They want Geno to beat out Johnson for the backup job.. I think they will only carry 3 this time around unless they draft a QB which may happen, hope not, Eli isnt missing a game until around 2021.
Many on here complained on here about all these guys. They are all on vet minimum deals, which means they have barely tapped into the available cap space at all. And at vet minimums with very small guarantees, they can all be cut in training camp with barely any dead money on the cap. Not to mention can end up filling good roles on the back end of the roster. Herzlich is only player on the team that plays every single specials snap and plays on goaline D package. Blake will prob end up being our 4th corner (replacing Sensabaugh and please God, Wade). And one of the QB's will win the back-up job with the other being released. No way Giants keep both. Only way they keep a 3rd is if they draft one as a developmental guy.
Antwon Blake (Giants) $855K, $20K March 22 roster bonus, $40K 53-man roster bonus any one game, $20K workout bonus, minimum salary benefit
Josh Johnson (Giants), $1.95M, $100K March 22 roster bonus; salaries $900K, $915K, $15K workout bonus 2017, $20K workout bonus 2018
Geno Smith deal: $1.2M, $775K salary ($100K gtd), $200K March 22 roster bonus, $12,500 per game active, $25K workout bonus, $800K incentive
I know that does not necessarily mean anything on the football field but that is one impressive pro day
