And waiting till desperation time to make it happen. It's the right move, and better late than never...just hoping not too late. Should the team fail to make the playoffs, while the players certainly played poorly in the early stages of the season, it's an organizational fail (GM) for not having canned Capuano earlier, and completely mishandling this situation. But that's nothing we didn't already know.
Fuck it...chips to the center of the table. All in. Let's do this.

I think "better late than never" really sums it up correctly.
Isles control their own destiny. Beat Boston on Saturday and they are in the mix no matter what. Win Fri & Sat (and get a little help from TB tonight) and they could be favorites to make the playoffs.
Didn't see this before I posted it in the game thread Â
Can't send Berube down, same way you can't send Mayfield down. He has to be on the roster for the reason of the year, though he obviously won't be seeing the ice again which is all that really matters. The expanded rosters makes it much more bearable.
It's about time!!! And Nelson better get his head out of his ass soon too!!!
P, congrats with the kids. We have 3 but spread over 5 yrs. They're a bit older now though. Can't imagine trips! Kudos to you and the Mrs.
Thanks, tim. My kids were looking at the wife and my wedding photo from 2000. They noticed not only was my hair dark then, but there was considerably more of it. I told them they have themselves to thank for the current state of things! But seriously, it couldn't be a more fun ride with them; they're great kids who for some reason still think dad and mom are cool.
I kind of like Quine. He seems to be a responsible bottom 6 forward.
Aso far as Halas goes, thankfully he is up (even if it is about half season too late). I would play him against Pittsburgh, and save Greiss for the Boston game the next night.

I feel the same way. Plus he's good on faceoffs and we're really struggling at the dot lately.
Also, not that I was fighting it tooth and nail, but I was very skeptical about the Beauvillier - Ho-Sang combo working out, and I was most certainly wrong. They were by far our best combo yesterday. Very encouraging and I'll definitely eat a little crow there.

Ho-Sang is probably going to get booed in Pittsburgh because of the number he chose. But that would be kind of cool for the kid. It elevates Ho-Sangmania to another level.
But I wouldn't be surprised to see them go out of their way to set JHS up as often as possible. I mean, Mario's friggin' statue has him beating Pilon and Norton. Would be a delicious twist if the Isles' 66 had a big game.
PITTSBURGH — The question trailed off and Josh Ho-Sang knew where it was going.
The Islanders rookie was asked how it might feel when he takes the ice here on Friday for warmups before a crowd of Penguins fans who might view him, wearing their beloved No. 66, as . . .
“Public enemy No. 1?” he said with a mischievous smile. “For me, Pittsburgh is the one city as a whole where I’m totally OK with them hating me. For wearing No. 66. Mario Lemieux is a hero, a pioneer for them there and for them to take it as disrespect is completely understandable. I think it’s everyone outside of Pittsburgh that should kind of get over it. But if they want to hate me for my career, they’re welcome to. I have no bad blood with them, they can have whatever they want with me.”

Ho-Sang is certainly aware of the bad blood between the Islanders and Penguins that dates back to the various slights, real and perceived, on his team’s end from 2010-11 and how the Isles exacted some measure of revenge later that season with a brawl-filled game. There’s also the 2013 playoff series and now Ho-Sang’s No. 66 to add to the mix.
“I definitely don’t think I’m helping it,” he said of the rivalry. “I can’t afford to think about that stuff. I’m sure when I get on the ice for warmups it’s not going to be a Ho-Sang friendly environment. For me, there’s so much more going on right now, despite what they want to do, say. We’re trying to make the playoffs. That’s the biggest thing for me. If I can be a little bit of a distraction, take the heat off the guys in that area, just be able to play, get two big points and get out of there. That’s the plan.”

If we win our next 2, we take over the 8 seed regardless of what anyone else does.
