Goodell Gets One Right-NFL Games to Have Fewer Commercials

Suburbanites : 3/23/2017 3:55 pm
Changes announced to improve the flow of the game and reduce the number of "unnecessary disruptions". The one they appear to be hitting head on is the dreaded TD commercial, kickoff commercial double whammy that we all hate. I think many of us look at the NFL in static terms rather than variable object. And yes they practically print their own money today, but the NFL's future is anything but a sure bet and their are troubling signs. The Concussion dilemma is having a quantifiable impact on youth participation, and for the first time maybe ever ratings were down last year. Hey, at one time boxing was the king of the American sports landscape. I don't want to turn this into a whole Goodell thing but I'm glad he's being proactive and doing something for the fans for a change.

Is this for the German broadcasts?

great move by a commissioner who knows how to appease the sheep while keeping the image of the billion-dollar brand on solid ground. Roger is the best.
It's not fewer commercials

It's fewer commercial breaks. But each break will be longer.
The net time saved is like 10 seconds

wow..
Hey, a longer commercial break

gives you time to take a shower, take a dump, make a burger, do a lot of things without missing any of the action. I'm looking forward to using that time wisely.

From the proposal posted the other day, total commercial time is actually a bit longer.
Maybe he wants to get the networks off that kickoff commercial so

he can eventually do away with kickoffs.

Eh. I kinda just pause my TV.

But this is yet another reasons why I like to watch the game on delay. You start watching the game an hour later, and you really n3cer have to wait through commercials.
Getting rid of the double commercial break after a TD is awesome

Longer commercial breaks do suck, but at least its a step in the right direction.

I think that was missing one of the cut commercial breaks. The total time (from the standard breaks) would be 1 minute 10 seconds shorter with the proposal.
God bless the mute button!

I should be able to prepare an entire meal now during commercial breaks.
