T.J. Rivera, Seth Lugo and Rene Rivera are back in Mets camp after being away with Team Puerto Rico. All the WBC Mets have now returned.
Yeah, he has to unless Nimmo or Lagares magically make it back in time. No other option.
What is up with the Familia suspension? WBC is no longer an excuse.

Can't announce it IMMEDIATELY after. That would make it look like MLB waited till after the Classic to announce it lol

We can always drop Gilmartin from the 40 man if we don't want to immediately put Wright on the 60 day DL for roster flexibility purposes. Besides Sewald, is there anybody else that is not already on the 40 man who really must be kept? Even Ty Kelly or Phillip Evans duplicate what T.J. Rivera provides and Rivera is already on the 40 man

Montero might be a lock for the long man spot at this point. 1.96 ERA this spring. Sewald likely goes to Vegas.

I dont think Sandy wants to max out every possible 40 man spot. Sure, Goeddel and Gilmartin can be removed but there isn't a lot of room past them. Sure I think Sewald could be added but if it's close I think the tie obviously goes to the man with the 40 man spot and Montero is having a pretty good spring. I do think Ty Kelly is added. TJ Rivera and Flores look like the backup middle infielders until Wright comes back (Reynolds already sent to minor league camp). Lagares and Ty Kelly looked like the backup OF. If Lagares is down long term than Conforto replaces Lagares. Ty Kelly still makes the team.

LOL. What a bunch of bullshit.
There might be some major turnover next year. Guys like Nimmo, Conforto, Cecchini, Rosario, Smith, and I'd even say TJ Rivera need to be getting plenty of consistent at-bats in preparation of getting their numbers called in the not so distant future.
Lagares missed 22 games in 2014 with an intercostal strain. He says this oblique injury suffered today doesnt feel as bad.

Lol cmon. He said "as bad" aka not as bad as the previous injury.
Rafael Montero has certainly been a pleasant surprise this spring:
18.1 IP, 14 H, 4 ER (1.96 ERA), 8 BB/21 K

He saying it doesnt feel as bad as a time he injured it that was already lower than the 30 games you predicted. Im not going to speculate on "how bad" or what the heck he talking about lol. We have no idea at this point.
The upside of Smoker is so much higher than a guy like Edgin but Edgin is pitching well now and is seemingly a decent backup LOOGY. Doubt the Mets discard him so he's holding the cards right now. The Familia suspension is holding everything up. Ive seen speculation he might not even get suspended at all or that its at least less than 30. We'll see! Smoker still has a shot though.

Indians, Jose Ramirez, pending physical, agree to 4-year $26 million extension. Deal includes club options for 2022 and 2023.
No Familia Suspension...
Familia
Reed
Salas
Blevins
Robles
Edgin
One of Montero, Smoker, or Lugo for last spot
Famila suspension...
Reed
Salas
Blevins
Robles
Edgin
Two of Smoker, Lugo, Montero, possibly Sewald (since a 40 man spot is open for Familia)
OH JFC. Excuse me 30 DAYS which is still more than how long he was out last time that he is saying he feels better than. lol. You will nitpick anything. How are any of us supposed to know what Lagares meant by that? I just speculated that maybe it wasn't "that bad". Are we going to argue what Lagares's, yours, and my definition of "that bad" is now?
"I think Im going to be ready," Lagares said in reference to the regular season. "Theres not a lot" of discomfort in his oblique. #Mets
TC on Lagares: Im concerned. Those things can be one of those injuries that dont go away for awhile. Im very concerned."

miss 30 games. Nice try though. Oblique is generally a 3-6 week injury. It's March 25th, if he missed a month he'd miss about 20 games.

Guy YOU were wrong. Just admit it. He said "as bad" not "that bad". He was referencing the previous injury. Just admit you read it wrong and move on. "That bad" and "as bad" are not the same thing and you know it. Has NOTHING to do with knowing what Lagares meant. He was referencing another injury. If I broke my toe and later stubbed it and said "it's not AS bad" as the previous injury it doesn't tell me it's not "that" bad.
Conforto gonna be seeing more reps in CF.

If Lugo makes the rotation that would open up a spot for Smoker
Robert Gsellman leads all @Mets starters in ERA (1.56), IP (17.1), OPS
(.581), and 2nd in WHIP behind deGrom (1.10). #Mets

He was referencing a minor injury that he came back quickly from and was saying it wasn't even as bad as that. So I said "that bad". I cant believe we are having this discussion. lol. All good man but I'm bowing way out of this one. I apologize for coming off confusing.
Harvey and Wheeler in extended spring training until they are healthy and go with Thor-JdG-Gsellman-Matz-Lugo
Collins shut that down. He said "Matt Harvey is in our rotation". Obviously Collins could change his mind but he seemed almost defiant when asked.

is not making the rotation. Near 0% chance. Gsellman locked it up.

As noted, Collins said Harvey is in the rotation. No extended for him.

Terry raved on Gsellman. Said WBC not a big factor in race for 5th. Nimmo isnt close. Harvey is in rotation.

or has that been ruled out?

Ok I missed that then thanks. Still think the Harvey situation is shaky. If he gets bombed this week and is throwing 92 again they might need to reconsider that.
I think Lugo is still in the running for a pen spot (not that I want him there) but we'll see. If the Mets were dead set on sending him to Vegas for depth they could make the move now as they have done with Reynolds, Rowen, and others.
add montero would be 8 deep
Awesome, Z!!
Exciting year.
The Mets are loaded across the board. We've waited a long time for this.

Let's hope that they stay healthy!!
I'm glad they have depth on the bench and some in AAA. Especially in early spring when cooler weathercauses injury.
