"He went down and found his game," Interim Coach Doug Weight said. "Every report I got was about how great his attitude was and how great he's playing and how great the team is playing in front of him. He's been a pro… He's gone down and did what he had to do and found his game and we're excited to have him back." |

"I just wanted to make the most or best out of my time down there and help the guys at the same time while they tried to help me," Halak said. "I think they work hard, that's all I can tell you about them and it's a great group. I obviously wish them good luck the rest of the way and hope they make the playoffs." "I'm going to try to enjoy it," Halak said. "That's all you can do. I'm happy to be back in the NHL. Every night for us, for me, for whoever is in net we need to keep getting points. Tomorrow is obviously a big game, then going home to play Boston that we're trying to catch, that'll be an even bigger game. We just have to go game by game and everyone try to play hard and try to bring their best right now. |

PITTSBURGH — The question trailed off and Josh Ho-Sang knew where it was going. The Islanders rookie was asked how it might feel when he takes the ice here on Friday for warmups before a crowd of Penguins fans who might view him, wearing their beloved No. 66, as . . . “Public enemy No. 1?” he said with a mischievous smile. “For me, Pittsburgh is the one city as a whole where I’m totally OK with them hating me. For wearing No. 66. Mario Lemieux is a hero, a pioneer for them there and for them to take it as disrespect is completely understandable. I think it’s everyone outside of Pittsburgh that should kind of get over it. But if they want to hate me for my career, they’re welcome to. I have no bad blood with them, they can have whatever they want with me.” “I definitely don’t think I’m helping it,” he said of the rivalry. “I can’t afford to think about that stuff. I’m sure when I get on the ice for warmups it’s not going to be a Ho-Sang friendly environment. For me, there’s so much more going on right now, despite what they want to do, say. We’re trying to make the playoffs. That’s the biggest thing for me. If I can be a little bit of a distraction, take the heat off the guys in that area, just be able to play, get two big points and get out of there. That’s the plan.” |
but I have no issue with it, in fact I think it's the kind of attitude I'd look for in a player.
He seems ready to deal with the fan response, which I also feel is entitled.
There is a kid on my daughters squirt team that I coach that wears #99. I love it.
Nobody else has, kinda shows the state of how poorly managed the Isles are.

NHL shoulda retired 66 or not retired 99 then.
That was the day an unsolicited letter from Lemieux arrived at the door of 6-year-old Darran Dunlap, daughter of 93.7 The Fan host Colin Dunlap.
Darran was diagnosed with leukemia Nov. 7. Lemieux, a cancer survivor, offered words of encouragement and a signed puck. Colin Dunlap tweeted a photo of the letter, which quickly went viral.
“That’s why I wear the number,” Ho-Sang said softly, sitting at his stall in the visitors’ room Thursday at PPG Paints Arena. “That’s the type of guy who’s behind that number, and that’s what’s so inspiring for me, you know?
“You look at the foundation he’s created for cancer patients and in retrospect what happened to him in his career and how he got cancer and dealt with that.
“He fought and continues to fight for other people. He thinks outside himself. For me, that’s a man worth looking up to.”
Kid sounds like a real jerk, doesn’t he?
I really think the "controversy" has died down. Sure, some mouthbrethers at Consol will get their too-tight panties in a bunch, but it seems like most lifeforms with higher intelligence feel there's nothing to see here.
Lemieux no problem with JHS wearing 66 - ( New Window )
Nobody else has, kinda shows the state of how poorly managed the Isles are.
You could have chosen something else to explain how poorly managed the isles are...this isn't one of those.
BTW Mario said he had no problem with JHS wearing the number, and JHS has shown only respect to Mario...you should probably read his response when he was asked the question again yesterday.

The hatred for this kid at draft time was moronic.

Kids will do stupid, disrespectful things. Rather, at least from this perspective, it’s a choice that never should have been anyone’s choice. Because that number should have been retired across the NHL as recognition of the greatest talent the game has ever known. And spare me any Wayne Gretzky argument. Anyone who saw both knows beyond any doubt that Mario Lemieux was on a wholly different level.

You really attached one of the worst articles I have ever read. Thank you.

It's not every day you see an Asian-Jamaican Latino Jew dominate hockey.
the other thing that caught my eye Wednesday was the live game interview with Weight, first time seeing him in that setting. He minced no words, he was lacing into them in no uncertain terms and the 3rd was much better, actually that improved stretch started with 5 to go in the 2nd, a harbinger. He's got fire in his belly and the tell will be whether he also has his guys' backs and they believe that and in him
Nice of Boston to lose last night. Winning tomorrow night is a must, but getting some pts tonight would be great too!
Terrance?
I know, I know...play nice in the sandbox. But it'd sure be great if BBI instituted a ban on dupes/multiple handles to ensure the stupidity doesn't have a chance to spread anew.
Well, back to hockey. Almost all of you are warmly welcomed here.
Should probably have all the posts be approved before they can be put in a thread just to be safe
And I'll be clear what's going on here, since this is a bit of a misrepresentation (though certainly not a lie from gidie, not at all).
The last time Hudson pulled his hudson act he reported me to BBI and had be banned for a week because BBI is protecting him for whatever reason. So he started another fight with me on the Crosby thread knowing the kid wouldn't face consequences and only I would if I responded.
So I emailed gidie and said 2 things
1) The hockey threads are fine. We bust each others balls and we don't even want that to change. Literally ever.
2) If Rover is going to come here and start trouble which he does on every hockey thread, you (gidie/BBI) need to be prepared for me to respond as I see fit. I'm not saying this in the "egg someone on" way, but it's pretty obvious he has a bit of a thing for me and I really got under his skin last time. So he seeks me out every time now, blantantly obvious with the purpose of getting me banned. So I had to protect myself and warn BBI that I'm responding. Don't delete me or or hockey threads because of the kid. And I think you all know I soooo don't care what he says. but if he's coming here ruining our thread, pretneding to be a Penguin fan in the process, we are allowed to call him out for the awful presence he provides.
I think gidie would agree, I was very clear that we don't want the mods on the hockey threads, which is precisely why I emailed him. Hudson reports us, Eric protects him, and I didn't want our Penguins thread getting deleted because of the kid tonight.
I think a little transparency would do you good. This was not a good look for you guys.
The hockey community as it is on BBI is a different animal; the barbs and insults are part of posting, just as they are in the ice. We're all up front about the fact that while feelings get hurt, nothing is insidious or literal. Just like on the ice, we all drink a beer and laugh afterward. The only issue with today has been someone who continues to bring little value to the threads as well as a definite history of creating and posting under multiple handles, yet for some reason continues to be permitted to return. It's a free country, but when the same individual who flies counter the spirit of BBI with their actions (creating multiple handles) turns and runs for help, perhaps the onus should be on encouraging the poster to find an alternative message board instead of allowing him to return to a place where he'll certainly be ridiculed for said multiple handles and lack of cogent thought.
This guy has been trolling Islander threads, and BBI for years now, you'd have to be incredibly dense not to see what he's doing. If you think this guy has an iota of interest in having a good faith hockey discussion with us then I have some magic beans to sell you. Give me a break.
Do I report them, nah.
I usually ignore it, it is what it is.
But then Mike goes and has in the past brought up way way personal stuff, made really false accusations about me, then when I make a reference to him, just quoting what Anak said about me, he reports it.
You don't like me, fine, but don't call me the whiner or baby. I take 100 insults here per week and don't go crying to the mods.
Mike gets ONE, and it's not even an orignal post from me, and he complains.
Don't like me, fine, but Mike's shown who the real baby is.
I think a little transparency would do you good. This was not a good look for you guys.
Can someone e-mail me with wtf happened?

Anak made a graphic reference about me last night.
It was similar to the stuff I get all the time which I normally ignore.
I quoted Anak's post, but said "Mike" would be a better fit.
Mike then told on me.
Just so we are clear on who the tattle is and is not.

I don't give a shit about you Hudson. I'm wondering about the scumbag Mike was referring to in his post.
When the Isles fan here gets mentioned; I get complained about.
If nothing else comes of this, aside from the board seeing in clear sight who is the baby, I'll take it.
I would rather get comments like I get usually from Anak then deal with sanctimonius phonies.
Listen...if you're really as smart as you think you are, why do you continue to A) visit a place where you're really not liked, respected or wanted...do you think it'll change? And, B) given your schizophrenic fandom of 2 teams, is it really that hard to see why no one takes you seriously, and by extrapolation, that people don't care about what you think? Seems like you're chasing windmills. What's the endgame?

Hudson, you're the worst. It's one of the few things everyone here agrees on. Why you're still allowed to troll hockey threads here, with all your multiple dupes/personalities, is beyond me.
FEK, I'm with you on all your posts in this thread.
So then you come on threads antagonizing everyone knowing no one can respond. So the email was not to stop you from doing that. It's entertaining as all hell when you implode and embarrass yourself. The email was to say if you're going to allow the kid to do it, you have to allow us to respond.
This isn't an Islander fan or Ranger fan thing. It's across the board. Literally every poster to a man agrees. So take this as an opportunity to shut us up if you have a legitimate reason or logic.
I think you should take your own advice kid.

Sure Mike, we beleive ya.
I asked your post well over a year ago which made fun of a medical condition be removed.
Anak made an insult to me, I then responded, you then told on me.
That's what happened.
You couldn't take it in stride.
You've exposed yourself as being a two face baby.
You want it both ways-you want to get down and dirty but then act like you are on high ground.
I guess this is why you have problems here not only when I am not around, but heck, didn't one of your office workers vandalize your property?
Seems to me you got some issues of your own.

I could not post here for a month, and my name still would be referenced as if to bait me anytime the Pens play or Crosby is mentioned.
Who is trolling who?
Difference is, I'm not going to respond by BOTH playing dirty and telling.
This is why you constantly get into arguments here, at work, and in the real world.

Everybody?
B in ALB tried to do a vote on this once before, and the results were for me staying.
So again, your concept of reality is off.
I'm going to say this loud and clear, if Greg, Anak, or whoever wants to insult and provoke me, fine. Don't care.
But, since you have the nerve to both try to play dirty, then tell on me like you have some higher ground, the next time you try to provoke me I'll just return the favor, but only to you.
I don't really mind people so much who go after me, it's those two faces like yourself (and only you) that really bug me.

No, actually it was a below the belt reference to a medical condition that irked me more than anything because Mike has his own issues and is in no position to pass judgement on anybody.
I simply "played" along, in the same manner that Anak did to me. Mike could not take it.
The only point I have is, we all know who the baby is.
Carry on.
All posters are equal, but some are more equal than others.
Thanks Hudson! (Feel better now?)
Now about the game, it would be great if Ho-Sang scores the winner and Halak plays great. It will obviously help in the playoff chase, and it will also expose Capuano (for burying the kids) and Snow (for leaving the team with a minor league goalie as the backup).
The good old hockey game!

Point is, Mike's clearly a thin skinned two face.
If I reported every post directed at me that was the same as what Mike reported me on, they'd be buried in paperwork.
If nothing else comes of this but seeing Mike's transparent hypocracy, I'm satisfied and you can carry on as usual.

I have a good feeling about both of them tonight, but we can't have another game from Tavares like he had against the Rangers. He wasn't even a no-show; he almost cost us the game. Hard to explain, but hopefully it was a one time thing.
Mike, center your chi, bro. Ignore and move on.
Back to hockey. Don't waste anyone else's bandwidth.

Think he can bank it off three skates tonight?
It is libel if you publish accusations against someone that cannot be proved - and that are damaging to them. A two year old article maliciously posted about a poster on this site, and awareness on our part of zero public records that back it up, leaves BBI open for allowing libelous content to occur. That particular topic, and like such references to that poster, is therefore not allowed to be discussed here.
it was deleted - because in posting you hit reply and it reposted word for word every thing B had written
Like I said earlier... being transparent and honest would do you a whole lot of good. Clearly that's not going to happen.
Greg - you can email me any proof of a public record in this matter if you like -- but I don't think you are going to find it buddy -- so if you wish to post about it -- you are warned that you may not
Perhaps you should.
I didn't think it was possible.
I don't even feel like insulting any fan bases right now.
You should be ashamed of yourselves. You know who you are.
Thanks B for trying to cheer me up, but it's not going to work.
Not today. I'm going to go away and recharge and when I come back I want everyone acting like B.

If my sarcasm meter is off, I apologize, but are you actually upset right now? Relax, man. Hockey will be the talk of the thread soon, if not right now.
LOL, ok, getting closer. You made me get out of my tanning bed to type this reply.
Hockey threads should be like Lord of the Flies. If a moderator even peeks into a hockey thread we've all failed as hockey fans. Hockey threads should be like the Vegas of BBI. What happens on hockey threads stays on hockey threads.
If you can't abide by the rules. Don't go on the threads.
We win ugly, kinda like when you regret going down on that hot chick because it smells like low tide, which you didnt expect in advance. But you're there and realize that she should have visited her friends at Massengill but still come up a champ with a glazed donut face. Because you know your reward is coming soon. Adversity breeds character. We'll make it through. Besides, we have B killing the Frogs and pj now thoroughly exhausted, so I like where this is going.

No, I'm not really upset. Not even a little.
I'm disappointed.

I think the fans want to see Habs Pens, not just me.
Montreal has like 5 borderline goons on the roster now, most of which won't see the playoff roster, but who knows maybe one game Julien would load up to set the tone. He always reminded me of the Thunder Bay coach from Youngblood.

I'm just waiting on pj to rip off his 7 sweater to have a 77 sweater on underneath to replace it.
While the #77 reveal was a shock and a nice gesture, the only jersey I ever owned other than my own (#18) was a Chris Chelios #24 Canadiens jersey. And I was like 12 years old.

While I have owned several Isles jerseys over the years (Potvin as a kid and Tavares today, anything else has been a blank), I did have a family friend who bought me a Habs Mats Naslund jersey because I apparently reminded them of him when I was playing (at that time). I was never that good, but I wasn't gonna quibble about the thought, though.
I generally don't like the smaller players, especially the pure finesse guys, but man Naslund could play the game.
Of course, by the time that movie was made almost no one wore those old-style masks anymore, but you have to admit it's awesomeness.

Loved those masks. We have a goalie in my men's league who wears one. He's insane. One of my teammates is an art teacher at a local high school and he paid him to paint a "portrait" of his wife on his mask.
It's sort of cringe-worthy sort of funny. Who the F wants their wife on their goalie mask, unless they want her pelted with rubber hockey pucks.
Even in beer league hockey, it seems completely nuts to wear one of those things nowadays, but whatever floats his boat I guess.

Well if he accomplished anything, it's every time we play them all anyone tries to do is hit him in the face mask with a shot.
It's definitely distracting from a normal play standpoint, everyone wants to say something funny to him after hitting his wife with a puck.
and he is absolutely insane. I don't think those masks are THAT less protective, but with the way it's painted everyone is gunning for him and almost no goalie I've ever met likes to take one off the grill.

He tried to wear a go-pro one game, didn't make it out of the first period before the attachment got hit and broke off.

Great job getting the 2 points we deserved it. The 3rd period we played awesome. 1 bad break. They may be coming around.
They had the puck for almost 2 full minutes was tough to get him on.
