Michigan TE Butt ahead of schedule

superspynyg : 3/24/2017 12:34 pm
I really liked him for rd 2 prior to getting hurt. I would love him rd3 if we don't go TE in rd 1 or 2. He could be back as early as July or as late as Early October.

His injury was no where as bad as Jaylon Smiths was last year. Zero nerve damage. He would be a great asset and worth an investment.

He's solid but his run blocking is a major weakness
Bold Ruler : Mod : 3/24/2017 12:36 pm : link
aren't we tried of having TEs that can't really block?
Would love to see some BUTT

Tore ACL in bowl game

This supports McCaffery's decision to skip the bowl game. This injury will most likely cost him some money.

I would love this kid on the Giants.
"or as late as early October"

misses ota's, camp, basically worthless to the team 2017.

Pass, except for very late round.

draft is loaded with TEs. I wish him the best obviously, but we draft a guy who may not play this year? And we as a team are not far removed from being at or near the top of the league in injuries. Pass.
That's his second ACL.
MOOPS : 3/24/2017 1:39 pm : link
Honestly, he wouldn't be on my board.

I wouldn't say Butt is a weak blocker. He's actually an above average blocker and a good technician that just needs refining. He needs to get stronger. He's a willing blocker which is more than can be said about several TE's in this class.

He's also a traditional in-line TE. Not an H-Back. Not a fullback. Not a move TE. Not an overgrown WR. He's not a converted QB.

So while he's not a strong blocker, he can get there with coaching. I really like his game. The only question is the knee.
Butt is getting his ass in gear

of day 2 picks I think NYG is going to look hard at.
Sy, you weren't a fan of Butt though if I'm not mistaken?

You don't think he's a round 4 guy? That's where I have him pegged, maybe back end of round 3. Yes, pun intended.
I'd draft him for the awesomeness of having him stand next to

Tavarres King or Michael Hunter on the sideline.

Or in between King and Hunter.

But in all seriousness, there are enough TEs in this draft that taking a TE with his injury history and lack of stoutness at the POA is not my preference. Give me someone who can play this year.

Same knee, one on each knee?
I don't feel like looking it up, LOL.
Hey, if he is around in the 5th, I say why not?
You draft for the future, more than 2017 in this case.
Unless you are getting a great or transcendental player,
those are few and far between, you draft for the future.
You have one on this team.
I hope the Giants draft him so we get the handle

Giant Butt Fan.
I tried looking it up before,
MOOPS : 3/24/2017 6:46 pm : link
no luck. If it was the same knee I would think that would have been mentioned somewhere.

Same knee. I'd pass.
If we go tight end

I like Njoku early or Shaheen if we wait.

Rather see Shaheen...

in the 2nd. He will help the run game tremendously, he is huge/strong and he can catch.
P.S. How many 280LB/6'6" TE's can run a 4.79 40, and is tied at 1st with 24 on the bench with (1) other TE.
I LOVED him before the injury.
