I like it a lot. I definitely get a better clean than with a normal toothbrush. I don't think you need anything too feature rich.
One thing to know: I tend to find it a bit messier than a normal toothbrush. Between the vibrating and the larger size of the stem, it's hard not to drool a little.
duo sonic toothbrush which has two speeds and it fantastic. I've had it for over a month and it just easily glides to places I usually did not bother to go to when I brushed manually. Purchased the product on HSN when they were having a sale of buy one/get one free for only $29.95 as a special of the day. Now they run $49.95 for the set. Not worth it if you are only looking for one. I would not have paid the $50 price for the pair unless it was on special for $30. Happy I did!!
one of the big reasons why is people are usually hard brushers which effects gum health. An electric brush is easier on the gums, and it definitely cleans better. I'd never go back to a regular tooth brush.
But many models have timers built in that encourage brushing for at least 2 minutes. Most people don't brush long enough.
+1 -- this is the key, the amount of time brushing is the major issue. I highly recommend an electronic toothbrush, I went to the dentist 20 years ago and needed deep scaling done. I bought an electronic toothbrush (can't remember the brand, I still use it) and my gums healed.
i have the waterpik and ultrasonic toothbrush combo made by waterpik
First waterpik with listerine and then the toothbrush and it feels like i just got my teeth cleaned at the dentist. The timer feature is really great because before that I definitely was not brushing long enough.
A regular brush is probably better for scrubbing the roof of your mouth and your tongue, but I feel the sonicare is way more effective on the gums, teeth, and the gaps between the teeth. It kinda feels like you just got back from a dental cleaning.
Mine was like $50 and came with a rechargeable stand. Amazon now sells generic brush heads, which is great because the used to be pretty expensive.
Its terrific. My kids use one too. I saw above someone said that studies show little benefit which I don't dispute but find hard to understand. My dentist is always telling me that the Sonicare is better for the gums too. Get the discount heads from Amazon.
There should be. I have one of the expensive one with 5 settings that I never use. It's all about the charger and other little perks that come with it. You can't go wrong with the basic one.
Funny story, 2 years ago my husband went on a work trip to London. Since he was there for 2 weeks, I went over on the weekend to visit. He asked me to bring my sonicare charger because his wasn't working. I did and then mine didn't work either. We forgot about the different voltage. I fried my curling iron too.. So that's when we bought the new fancy ones.
Thanks everyone for confirming my purchase. Went out to Costco yesterday and bought a 2pack of Philips Sonicare last night. Used it twice already and my mouth feels so much cleaner like I just left the dentist.
One of the best purchases I have made so far this year.
Making sure you hit everywhere with either kind of TB and flossing are more important though.

Every time I go on a trip when I just bring my manual, I love getting home to the Sonicare.
Also, I encourage you to watch this video:

asked for the sonicare for christmas, and a waterpik for christmas. total improvement and effectiveness for me.
you wont regret it.
with a regular toothbrush now =)
to the point that I even take it on vacations.
As said previously..... both far superior to regular brush.
I just saw the Sonicare Essence on Amazon for $19.95. (Regularly $49.99)
