Wormley had a pulled hamstring at the Combine, so he didn't run, though he completed 23 reps on the bench. He measured 6'5 5/8" and was 298 pounds.
Today at the Michigan Pro Day, his 2 forties were in the high 4.7's and low 4.8's. His vertical was 31.5 and his broad jump was 9 feet 2 inches-all very solid numbers for a DT.
According to Tony Pauline, he impressed with all his workout field drills and the Giants visited with Wormley after the workout. He is a likely Round 2 pick.
An interesting note about Wormley is that he is known as a gym rat, spending his first few years at Michigan under strength and conditioning coach Aaron Wellman, who is now the Giants strength coach.
He is # 43.

The two have nothing to do with each other. You can be a gym rat and never bench. Which is what happens with most football players. It's just something they don't do. I once talked to Vince Manuwai about it. He was a 3rd round pick for the Jaguars. He said he only benched for reps twice in his entire college and NFL career. Once was as a freshman in college and the coaches told him not to waste his time doing it and the other time was at the combine. So if it's not something you practice you aren't going to have great success.
You also have to take into account a players arm length. That can make a huge difference.
He could play base end or inside. A real team leader from reports.
True, but considerably cheaper and under the Giants control for four years.
If, with the 23d pick, you get someone who can start for you for 5 years and perform well, the pick would have been well worth it.
Football is about reps it's about a burst so if you can bench 405 one time or 23 reps 25 times I'd take the 405. They practice power lifting mainly and explosive lifts. People discussing reps are amateurs and know nothing about weight lifting and how it translates on the football field. It's a drill that many scouts don't pay attention to
In our defense I think spags would move him around.

In the highlights he was at DE.

I agree. This guy can play all up and down the line. He bursts thtough from just about everywhere
Of course it's easy to say we were looking at Taco & Wormley but we also met with DT Glasgow, a day 3 "grunt" DT that could be good in the rotation. we need a HMWG
his brother was a rookie starting LG for the Lions last year.
On a pulled hamstring, see if you can do your usual with a pulled hamstring. Don't care if you are not using those muscles, its gonna effect you when you start straining the rest of your body towards the end.
