I have a feeling that the Giants will target Taylor Moten, the o lineman from Western Michigan, in round 2 and will trade up in the 2nd round in order to get him, similar to what they did to get Landon Collins. I think Moten will be a stud and will solidify the o line from day one. I watched Western Michigan play many times the past 2 years and this guy seems to be the real deal and performed very well against the best teams in the big ten.

Reese has hit a home run
Moten is strictly a guard. I would rather have Lamp to compete with Flowers and the loser will backup both LT and LG. If Lamp drops out of 1st round, trade up in Round 2.
However, if you want to insure that he will be worth a lot less than a 1st rounder should be, use your try him here, there and everywhere plan.
If you take Lamp, you determine his rookie position at rookie camp and ota's. You stick him there and let him concentrate his rookie year.
Dawkins has the same issues...although he was a LT in college I think he's a RG in the pros.
But he is a tween-er.
Lots off people seem to love Moten's potential.
But he is an enigma.
He looks like a OT but plays better at guard.
Very large player but he has a problem with his feet in pass protection as a result he stands tall and has difficulty maintaining pad level. Speed rushers give him problems.
However, he seems nimble when pulling and he is able to drop and strike. He gets to the second level.
Is much better against the run then in pass protection.
Good punch and long arms.
If the Giants are looking for a guard Moten could be the player, but I would not draft him as an OT.
I like Lamp also as much as the next guy, but he has short arms. I don't think he'll be a LT at the next level. I think the Giants, if they really want to fix LT, have to draft Ramczyk or Bolles in the first. I'm not concerned about the former's surgery.
If they don't get either of those guys, then you don't force it. Perhaps you get a guy who you can develop who has some LT traits later in the draft like Davenport.
Dawkins is also intriguing. I don't believe he is a OG only. I think he can play anywhere on the line if he puts the work in, including LT. But more than likely he'd be a great OG early.
Having said that, I think it's obvious that Flowers' is playing OLT next year. And we have to trust that they've seen something know what theyh're doing.

They do know what they're doing... which is why they have interviewed and visited with more OL than any other position, especially the LT candidates. Of course, it's the season of deception and smokescreens, but I believe that they are doing their due diligence, and if the evaluations are pretty close, they are going to take a OT in the first, and the only reason you do that is to find a franchise LT.
I'm not an asshat and clearly if a player falls that they have a much higher grade on, or if Ramczyk AND Bolles is gone prior to 23, then they are going to take the BPA on their board, regardless of position (except QB).
And I'll save the QB argument for another thread.
Flowers- obvious reasons.
Pugh- based upon F/A numbers this year, Pugh may command a price the Giants cannot afford next year.
