Major playoff implications tonight on the back end of a B2B. Isles hold the WC2 at present and need to hold serve against the team tied on points with them.
Thomas Greiss the likely starter; that to be confirmed along with the lineup later. Broons will be without Rask tonight (lower body), so the Isles need to pepper Khudobin early and often.
Still feeling really good after last night's gutty victory. The Islanders owe a lot to Jaro Halak's great play in his return from exile with 37 critical saves. His teammates and coach acknowledge that:
He got us the two points we really needed,” said Casey Cizikas, who gave the Isles a 3-2 lead with 4.5 seconds left in the second period off a nice feed from Tavares. “He was huge.”
“I’m looking up and it’s 3-3 and I’m thinking, ‘Don’t let it slide in off someone’s foot,’ ” coach Doug Weight said. “We deserved this one. Not a slight to them, but we got what we deserved tonight.” |
So the upshot for us is this isn't a day game...we all know how the team fares in the matinees. But we're at a point where no one can afford to take their eye off the ball. Max effort from this point forward...not just from the team, but you guys need to bring it. If you're not excited, I don't know what to tell you.
Let's Go Islanders!
John Tavares recorded his 300th and 301st assists. He is the 10th player to record 300 assists as an Islander. With his next goal, he'll tie Bobby Nystrom at 235 and move into a tie for 8th place in Islander history.
Andrew Ladd has reached the 20-goal mark for the 4th straight season and the sixth straight full season (he had 18 goals in the lockout year). He is one of 21 players to reach 20-goals in each of the last four seasons and one of only 14 to do so six times in the last seven seasons. He is six points shy of 500 for his career.
JT knows what it's gonna take to get this where we need it to be:
Lets gooooooooooooooooooooo
you KNOW Weight likes to throw his boys a bone against their former team.. and the other guys get up for it for the guy.
I'm not so against it.
This one isn't quite as do or die as that, but it's in our building. Gonna be a good one.

Be loud and bring home a win.
The team must keep the momentum going. Boston is slumping, go for the throat. The playoffs are right in front of them for the taking.
Will definitely be a playoff atmosphere. Hopefully the team plays as if its a playoff game.
Let's go!!!!
I have 50 mins or so before I have to go, but I WILL be watching when I get into that office
enjoy my friends.
enjoy brother
Boston is a trainwreck in their own end...we need to keep the pressure going. The chances have been plentiful.
At least you can challenge until you are unsuccessful
But 29 minutes without an even strength shot isn't gonna win many games.
Wake the fuck up and stomp these fuckers.
But...these are our Islanders. Never ones to make anything easy.
8 to go with 4 at home and 4 on the road. But in another great schedule twist, 4 of the last 5 on the road with those 4 being consecutive road games before the season finale at home.
The clock is a-tickin', boys.
Again, Hangzhou CHINA..
In a frame on the wall? A Mike Bossy jersey.
I took pictures. I'm not sure how to send a picture that is from my phone onto this site, but when I do it's hilarious. A BOSSY jersey next to a bunch of chinese letters.
