NFT: Anyone else get nailed by this year's flu?

Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/25/2017 8:34 pm
I was down for the count yesterday.
Just getting over it......
Reb8thVA : 3/25/2017 8:36 pm : link
I think if you have school age kids it is almost impossible not to get it. My son got it, then my wife, then me.
I got it like twice in December/January.
giantsfan44ab : 3/25/2017 8:39 pm : link
Was awful. I recovered and it came back like a week later.
Crushed me a few months back
lono801 : 3/25/2017 8:47 pm : link
I never get sick...missed a week+ of work...

I couldn't get out of bed...

Hope you guys feel better...I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy...

It sucked
Got a flu shot...
Dan in the Springs : 3/25/2017 8:48 pm : link
haven't seemed to have it, but my stomach is bothering me the past 24 hours. Is that part of it? You got me worried now.
I never had any stomach issues
lono801 : 3/25/2017 8:51 pm : link
Just the overall feeling of being hit by a bus...
Nope, not a bit...
BMac : 3/25/2017 9:29 pm : link
...Haven't been sick at all for the last 20 years.
Yup had it back in early January
djm : 3/25/2017 9:38 pm : link
Down and out for 24-36 hrs then fucked up for another day or so-- then got a 24 hr stomach virus a week or so later. Fantastic winter. If you have a kid in day care say your prayers every winter cold and flu season. You're fucked.
I don't think the two were related
djm : 3/25/2017 9:39 pm : link
The flu doesn't usually impact your stomach. Just the fever aches and pains and cold symptoms.
No flu shot
MookGiants : 3/25/2017 9:40 pm : link
for you guys? Or did you get it even with the flu shot
No flu shot. First time in ten years

Got it twice. Once in January. Once in February
My father was hospitalized with the flu for four days
Greg from LI : 3/25/2017 10:13 pm : link
Even after he was released, ot took him a couple of weeks to fully recover. I've never seen him sick like that before.

No flu but...
aimrocky : 3/25/2017 10:21 pm : link
We've had everything else run through our house. My one year old had a fever, cold and/or ear infections every other week since New Year's (the fevers all ranged from 102-105). My Four year old had several colds, an ear infection and fever. My wife and I have been trading colds for the past month. I had my worst bought this past week. Even the dog has had two ear infections this winter.

Unlikely that's the flu. You have some other infection.
Night before inauguration I went down
bradshaw44 : 3/25/2017 11:15 pm : link
Like a ton of bricks. I never get sick. Last time before was in the early 2000's. This was actually quite frightening. My wife wanted me to go to the hospital and I wouldn't have minded but I was such a mess that getting there wasn't an option. I was shaking so violently the second night it was almost like a seizure. My wife touched my forehead with cool hands and it felt like she dumped a bucket of ice water all over me. It took me about two weeks before I had full strength in my legs. I've never experienced anything like it.

Now THAT'S the flu!
One I never want to go through again!
bradshaw44 : 3/25/2017 11:37 pm : link
My wife is a teacher and got the flu shot but after caring for me all weekend she ended up getting a more mild version the following Monday. Kept her out of work for two days if you consider that mild.

I got the flu shot. Doc said it may have helped shorten or lessen the effects but I still got hit.
Yep

Had the stomach bug for 48 hours couldn't hold anything down then few weeks later had the flu was knocked on my ass for 4 days I guess I was lucky. Couldn't sleep night sweats then chills barely could eat lost 16 pounds between those 2 sicknesses. Then about a week ago I got a sinus infection that I neglected and currently I'm on antibiotics. Prior to these 3 issues have not been sick since 2014. This year was bad my whole family had the flu at one point and now my gf has a sinus infection(sorry)
Never go the flu, never took a flu shot

micky : 3/26/2017 1:38 am : link
It has delayed my neck surgery for the moment..having a hard time ridding it because of my low immunity..second round of antibiotics hoping this doesn't turn to pneumonia.

My two kids got smoked

by this Bullshit. 24 hours of puking and bed rest. Back to back.
As noted above, influenza does not cause
beechbouy : 3/26/2017 4:06 am : link
intestinal distress. This time of year such gut symptoms are frequently caused by a Norovirus. There is no such thing as a "stomach flu."
Norovirus vs. flu (influenza), differences in symptoms, transmission, and prevention - ( New Window )
Nope, But i did get a 6 week cold
montanagiant : 3/26/2017 4:12 am : link

I once got hit by a bus, felt just like having the flu.
I was sick with body aches and overall shittiness
TheGhostofBlueGuy : 3/26/2017 6:13 am : link
My son got his first cold and ear infection and just as I was getting over my cold. I went to kiss him and he turned and coughed right into my mouth. Dead solid perfect. I then got an ear infection which required TWO 10 day antibiotic treatments.

I swear this shit is man made sometimes.
Yes sir.
LakeGeorgeGiant : 3/26/2017 6:50 am : link
The first time I'm seven years that I skip my flu shot, and we get this nasty flu strain.
My wife and son
LakeGeorgeGiant : 3/26/2017 6:51 am : link
had the shot. They got sick but not really bad.
I got the flu shot and I still got it
Jeever : 3/26/2017 9:59 am : link
The flu shot probably helped because the duration was only 3 days but it hit pretty hard. A friend of mine was on his back for a couple of weeks. Pretty nasty strain this year.
I got in late December just before Xmas
gidiefor : Mod : 3/26/2017 10:27 am : link
and it hung on well into January -- it sucked!
I got it back in January.
GiantGolfer : 3/26/2017 11:05 am : link
I was literally hoping I would just die for 2 straight days. My fever spiked up to 102.9 at one point.
Sick all of Jan and Feb
Dave on the UWS : 3/26/2017 11:15 am : link
Just kept dragging fans yes I had my flu shot
My wife might have it for the third time this season,
Mr. Bungle : 3/26/2017 11:53 am : link
and I have a 7-year-old with a gushing nose and cough.

I haven't been sick a single day all winter. But I did get the flu shot because I'm not scared of needles.

Unlikely your wife got the flu 3 times. There are a lot of other illnesses out there, some of which resemble the flu in a number of ways.

Sounds like your son has a bad cold, not the flu.
No flu this year, I did get the shot.
JerryNYG : 3/26/2017 2:50 pm : link
I had a viral infection last year that was pretty terrible, but so far haven't been sick at all this year.
