Ravens to put Timmy Jernigan on the block?

CromartiesKid21 : 3/25/2017 8:36 pm
as they will have trouble affording him. Recall him in Florida St. having a quick first move inside and being a viable pass rusher. Maybe Jernigan is a better fit next to Harrison than Hankins due to the rushing the passer ability for the 3-Tech
Quote:
ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley believes DE Timmy Jernigan is likely entering his final year in Baltimore.
Set to be a free agent after the season, Jernigan is expected to be quickly priced out of the Ravens' range, especially considering the money they just invested in NT Brandon Williams. The Ringer's Mike Lombardi recently said the Ravens are "talking about moving" Jernigan, but Hensley does not believe they will get enough in return to make it happen. The 2014 second-rounder has 13 sacks and has been stout against the run through three seasons.

Are you suggesting giving up a pick and giving him

the salary he wants? I don't see that happening at all.
It's a pipe dream but if they don't expect much in return

I'd take him even for a one year rental. Key word 'much'.
what's the upside to giving up a pick
Giantsfan79 : 3/25/2017 9:00 pm : link
for what could become a one year rental. If anything resign Hankins for a year and then decide next offseason if Jernigan is better when all it will cost to commit to either is money.
It'd have to be a 4th or lower in my case

and the upside would be he's considerably cheaper. Combine that with the possibility that we lose Hankins outright, or that Hankins returns feeling he's underpaid and underperforms somehow, and that justifies throwing a later round pick at him (our 4th is essentially a 5 courtesy of walkietalkie gate).
In their stats they're not much difference.

Jernigan is 24, 629 (60%) snaps, played in all 16 games and had a decent five sacks and three passes batted away and three tackles for a loss. No forced fumbles and one pick.

Hankins is 25 next week, 765 (69%) snaps, played in all 26 games and had three sacks but seven tackles for losses which would seem to indicate penetration. No pass defenses, one forced fumble and a kick block.

Hankins, for better or worse, took 136 more snaps.
my question is
Ten Ton Hammer : 3/26/2017 1:02 pm : link
that Jernigan is best suited for a 4-3 front and the ravens still play a 3-4, right?

Ravens

Play just as much of a 4 man front as they do a 3 man front.

Most teams barely play a straight 3-4 or 4-3 more then 20 % of a game. Jernigan work ethic has been questionable
