NFT: Fantasy Baseball Keeper Controvery

How would you guys handle this.

10th member of our league who nobody even knows except for one member added Starling Marte October 28th of last year. The season ended on October 1st.

The league champion dropped Marte, who was injured at the time, in an effort to win the championship, which he did.

The team that lost the championship game on the last day when it was clear they had lost, used their final roster move of the match to add the dropped and injured Marte since we are in a keeper league.

The Commissioner takes issue with it and forces the team to drop Marte.

Nearly a month later this 10th team adds him and since it was middle of football season and the World Series no one really noticed.

Only until the league champ who actually dropped Marte noticed this team was using his keeper on him.

Should this team be allowed to keep Starling Marte, a player he added nearly a month after the season ended?

Drop him in a similar circumstance,then no.

You should add a rule though,that you can't keep anyone not on your roster by Sept 1st or whenever your playoffs start.

That is the rule and has been the rule in all of our leagues.

I am just not sure if this new team knew of the rule since it's not written on the league page anywhere..

But should he be allowed to keep him?

AND forced the runner up to drop Marte for trying the same thing,then absolutely not.

Agreed. If the previous team was required to drop Marte, nobody else gets to keep him

everything should be frozen.

But also agreed with the Sept 1 rule.

to the owner in question, and was not prohibited or handled by the commissioner in authority at the time, I would personally argue the second owner should be able to keep Marte because he picked him up within the rules. The previous Marte owner dropped him, using one of his adds and knowing full well he was a keeper candidate in an effort to win the championship last year.
