Fascinating to see how useless these two have become. There's been speculation about them but why would anyone want either, no matter what your QB situation is? You know they are not going to get you over the top if you are a contender, they aren't going to get you into the playoffs if you are on the cusp of going and what kind of rebuilding team would want either? Add in they likely command high salaries because of their experience and neither would sign on happily as a backup QB - which is why I'd take Josh McCown over both.
Tony ROmo can't find work and a team is expected to sign Cutler or Kaep? All the speculation is a waste of time since it's obvious their time in the NFL is done.
And McCown, Osweiller and Hoyer aren't?
Kaep has talent and was far from the problem at San Fran. They had no talent there since everyone retired.

I could see Kap backing up smith again in KC -- Andy Reid would be a great coach for him too I think

No one wants to deal with Cutler and Kaepernick, atleast, not most teams. The other guys suck but atleast there's no off field nonsense to deal with.
Kaepernick could have a home but Cutler is horrible.
In Cutler's case I figured it's probably a high asking price that's keeping him on the bench. I don't think he's any great shakes, but he's good enough to warrant a spot somewhere. If he's expecting $15M a year though, then he's going to be sorely disappointed.
CK I think is an example of the return not meriting the risk. He's just not good enough to deal with the fallout that comes with signing him. It'll be a media circus for that team from the get-go, Tebow style.

Tebow's a solid analogy. Kap's upside is probably the best of the bunch, but whether you love him or loathe him that's a lot of attention and distraction for a guy who, if all goes right, never sees the field.
It'll never happen. If the Cowboys trade him they trade his contract and Denver or Houston has to pay him his outrageous salary. If he's released then they can negotiate his salary.
I agree with others that Cutler is just bad. Despite all the Kap stuff he still had teammates who stuck behind him. No one stands with Cutler and he has too long of a history of it.
I think Stephen will push Jerry to make a move on Romo by draft weekend and he'll either be a Bronco or a Texan

Pretty much.
His 2016 stats overall are better than his 2014 campaign when Harbaugh was in his final year.
Because of the constant non stop hate from the national media and rival fans I was almost convinced Kap couldn't play anymore but last year showed me he can still be a decent player in this league.
People need to stop focusing on if a QB can carry a team singlehandedly like Brady, and whether you can with him as a piece of the puzzle. The Denver trade last year if it went through IMO would have had the Broncos in the playoffs as a threat.
There are still question marks in some aspects of his play, but when you make the Super Bowl in your tenth (?) NFL start and Alex Smith, Carson Palmer, Tony Romo, Andy Dalton have yet to play in one, I think you deserve a lot more benefit of the doubt.
Throw Russell Wilson on some s*** teams and see what he will accomplish. My guess is not a whole lot.
On a purely football level, Cutler's locker room/on field toxicity could be an issue.
I do feel the dude can ball and play QB in the right circumstance. Game managed with some pieces I could see the dude take a bunch of teams in the playoffs.
The 2010 NFC Championship Game for whatever reason will stick out for some. Maybe Green Bay was the better team that day, but it's hard to say if Cutler is as battled tested as you would hope so.

Yep, this is the issue. McCown, Osweiller and Hoyer also suck, but they were much cheaper. Cutler and Kap want starting money. Both really over rate themselves.

I admit i did not watch much SF football this year but... obviously Kaepernick was a big part of the problem in SF this past season. You dont go 2-14 and the QB isnt 'part of the problem'... great athlete, but its a passing league and Kaepernick has no accuracy or touch so......
Pittsburgh
Seattle
Arizona
Steelers make the most sense as far as actual need as Benjamin will most likely be injured few games this coming season as par for the course. A decent QB will be able to win games with the offensive talent they have.
Seahawks from a scheme fit, similarity to Wilson, and you can see the political climate of Seattle & Pete Carroll's father like persona stepping in to save Kap coming into play. It would be very strange seeing him in that uniform but it's a legit possibility I think handicapped only by the Hawks cap than anything else. And outside of Denver, you would eliminate the only defense that truly has his #.
Cardinals are a good fit from the sense that Kap at his best in the old days was someone who liked striking intermediate and some deep balls. The type of offense Arians runs has always suited Kaepernick. With David Johnson as a legit run threat, and some real talent at X/Y/Z, he could look pretty good down in the desert.
I think it's not accurate to say the guy can only play in a pistol/read option offense. I think you will always have that in the playbook if Kap is on your team, but a hardcore spread offense is not the most ideal thing for him or any QB for that matter. There have been articles written about how the overuse of the shotgun hurts QBs, and last year's #1 offense in Atlanta ran it the least in the entire league.
Stats show that Kap, Cam, and Wilson all benefit from being under center.
As for Jay Cutler, too hard to predict where he will end up. He's way too talented to not be in the NFL at all.
Throw Russell Wilson on some s*** teams and see what he will accomplish. My guess is not a whole lot.
He'd do a lot better than 2-14, that's for certain. And its not like SF was losing games 41-35, the offense was shit and the QB deserves blame for that.
not saying he shouldnt get a shot to compete for a job somewhere, yes he should. But he's priced his services aggressively when he's likely better off on a 1- or 2-year deal, and yes, there are repurcussions for what he did last year. He had to know that going in.
Kaepernick? There are dozens of QBs coming out of college every year with the same skill set. Why spent big money on this guy?

He shouldn't get big money (i.e. mid teens), but he should get a decent backup QB gig.
The guy is on the list of QBs who have won in Lambeau in the playoffs in single digits. How many NFL QBs the last 20 years can claim that?

QB is part of the problem when you're 2-14 yes but remember Kap didn't start the season. Gabbert started the first 5 games and threw 5 TDs. Kap finished the rest of the season with a 16-4 TD ratio despite a receiving corp whose top 3 in catches were Jeremy Kerley, Quinton Patton and Garrett Celek. Not to mention a banged up Carlos Hyde and the worst defense in total yards, rushing yards and scoring. Oh and Chip Kelly. He needs the right system (and location to handle the other stuff) but this isn't Jake Locker or Jamarcus Russell. He's still a quality QB in this league.
Coach killers both. Both could be an OK back up if they shut the fuck up and just back up. Otherwise both need to find something else to do.

can't find work because Jerry is looking for a draft pick while Houston and Denver are waiting for him to be released. Someone will blink, and it will not be Jerry. I think h gets his draft pick and I think it is from Houston.

Not true, they could make the trade contingent on working out a new deal with Romo.

will usually be given a shot. Look at how long Jeff George lasted. So, it's unusual for Cutler to be unemployed unless he wants to be guaranteed a starting job or he wants too much money.

This is just it though. My understanding is he wants to be a starter with starting money. If he would be a backup, with backup money, he'd be signed already.

If they weren't great athletic talents they would be the dumb ass you deal w at 7-11 or Home Depot.

Kaep scored a 38 on the Wonderlic which is exactly 1 point lower than Eli. Top 15% of QB's.
The only thing more idiotic than calling somebody dumb is to not provide any metrics behind the accusation.

What I'll remember most about CK is him basically solo'ing a very good Green Bay team to the tune of an absurd 180 yards rushing. He peaked then fizzled out quickly (although a Reid maybe could salvage him) but he had some great moments. Note: I love watching the Packers lose.
Here is a snippet:
After rewatching all 11 of Kaepernick's 2016 starts this week, I found no reason to believe he should have a more vigorous market than Cutler. Quite the contrary; it was exceedingly obvious why Kaepernick is not in demand as a potential starter.
In the hierarchy of hurdles to the league's 32 coveted QB1 openings, the fallout from Kaepernick's polarizing protest ranks a distant third behind passing ability and scheme fit.
Value of Colin Kaepernick's activism aside, QB skills are suspect - ( New Window )
As someone who commented on Kaepernick's intelligence based on his actions, it was interesting to see how well he scored at the combine.
Wonderlic scores - ( New Window )
scored a 15 and a 6?

Kap is many things but dumb is not one of them. The guy had a 4.0 in college I believe.

This is what I heard too. In fact I heard a sports radio guy in SF (an ex QB) go through Kaps play in multiple games and just rip him. People as usual, just assume that this is all about the not standing thing. Its not, if teams thought he could play they would gladly look the other way.

I also said I thought Cutler was a dumb ass too. Why aren't yo Also sticking up for him. You are a pseudo intellectual asshole who wanted to jump on me Because you wrongly assume I think he shouldn't be saying or don't what he did. He's more than entitled to his opinion. I stated why I think he's a moron before and will now do so for just for you.
He wore a Fidel Castro shirt. When a champion for social justice and one who is railing against "organized police state activities" wears a shirt of a man who personifies that he's a fucking moron. As you are.
Cutler is a dope too which i said. I consider them both coach killers and morons as they are Guys who can't play QB to their level of ability because they rely upon their athletic abilities too much.
I've met master candidates and PHDS who are outright incompetent. Academic credentials may indicate a high level of school success. Not intrinsic intelligence. I'm sure you had ilhig grades yet there isn't a more arrogant idiot on this site than you. And I'm sure your had a high GPA too
It was not my intention, however, to trigger you to that degree. Surely you'll manage to calm down. Perhaps by taking a knee?

Peyton Manning 28, Ryan Fitzpatrick 48.
There is the wonderlic for you right there.
