How about we start with not playing him for 40 minutes? How about you let him play (to appease Silver and the fans) while limiting his minutes? How about having some forward thinking about the future of this franchise.
Yeah, let's worry about fines. Check back with me when that actually happens. Meanwhile, the other team's that don't give a shot about fines with set up their future.
Where were you the past 2 games applaudimg them for sitting melo? oh yeah thats right you are just here to bitch..

Oh get bent...because you are such a beacon of the perfect fan on these threads. What do you give a shit whether I applaud the team for sitting him? Applaud the for making rational decisions al the time? No, I get it...kill me for not living my life on BBI every second of the day like you. Got it.
But you are right...allowing Melo to play almost the entirety of the first three quarters while having an amazing game is a much better plan.
Go Knicks?
if knicks were losing this game and melo was playing horrible would you be bitching?
My point is if you are going to kill phil and hornacek and be fair and mention they sat him for 2 games, rather than coming on here oh fuck this guy and fuck that guy, brings nothing to the thread...
when phil trades melo for sog shit you will come on here and rip phil for trading melo for dog shit..
I'm not allowed to complain about Phil and Hornacek without also giving them praise? You think its entirely possible that I already think that but for some reason I need to say it because it makes you feel better?
And don't tell me what I will or will not say in the future. You have no idea what I think.
I'm sorry my once-in-a-blue-moon post bitching about Hornacek playing a hot Melo the entire first half in a meaningless game really burned your biscuits. Must have really ruined the thread for you this unique thought that didn't come up from anyone else on this or any other thread.
I'm sincerely sorry.

sixers play brooklyn tomorrow so hopefully win there for them...
orlando also plays brooklyn this week..
so hopefully that will even it back up
You can't ever get mad at the players for not tanking though.
- Deron Williams is awful. Not sure he helps them at all in the playoffs.
-JR Smith isn't the same since his injury. Needs more time to get his game back.
- I saw Derrick Williams exert more effort on defense tonight than he did his entire time with the Knicks. He still is not a good NBA player though.
- Patty Mills is going to get paid big this offseason. I want the Knicks to truly rebuild but if they are intent on signing a PG, I'll take Mills over Rose/Teague/Holiday.
- Gasol can still play. I can see him causing problems on the glass and down low offensively against GSW in limited spots.
-This "players only" broadcast on TNT is definitely different. Not really a fan so far but I could see it working with the right guys.
coaches will never coach to lose and players will never play to lose, just never going to happen
this, plus this was a big game for Detroit and those it's competing with for a playoff spot.
Kings interested in Hinkie.
To hear Hornacek talk about trying to build some momentum for next year made me laugh out loud. Wanna build momentum? Get your hands on Jackson, Tatum or Ball - not Malik Monk.
Except the Knicks, who haven't had a plan since ever.

How much can you really blame on the players though?
Melo is 32. We've been too coddled as fans by Dirk and Duncan and Nash, star players who didn't fall off until their 40s, but those are guys are the exceptions and not the norms. If you want to get mad at Melo for not adapting, sure I guess.
Jackson traded for an oft injured PG who has been shooting sub 40% in seasons prior and is on his last deal of FA. I don't know that you expect him to cater to KP. Again, he's in the meat of his career, I'm not sure how much you can expect him to change his game at this point of his career.
Even the coach has little to gain by winning a couple of meaningless games. Horn will be back next year and a top 3-4 pick could make next year more successful than the 7-9 pick.
Typical Knicks very very shortsighted planning.
Joakim Noah could begin his 20-game suspension for failing a drug test as soon as Wednesday, meaning best-case scenario he’ll miss 12 games next season when games actually matter. Noah, who is recovering from knee surgery, was examined by doctors prior to Monday’s game to determine if he can practice again. If Noah is medically cleared, he can train with the team Tuesday and the league will have to start his suspension a day later when New York hosts the Heat — starting the clock with eight games remaining in this lost season.

The sat a healthy Melo twice. So they severely limited his minutes.
The Knicks were not going to close out the season with 14 consecutive losses. So people shouldnt have a panic attack about them picking up a win here or there.
I don't blame the players. And I don't blame Hornacek. They are all trying to win. The fact that Hornacek played Melo and Rose so much last night is just proof that the FO hasn't instructed him to "lose." Which is discouraging. The only focus right now should be draft positioning.
You can absolutely play Melo and Rose. However, you cannot have them taking over and winning games, which then can (and will) certainly do.
Why not apply that logic to Melo and Rose's 'nagging injuries". Any nba exec with a brain would see the Knicks current situation and try to lose as much as possible to maximize ping pong balls. Instead the Knicks will have two players with zero future on the Knicks playing big minutes. I can see Jackson's end of season statement now- " We like the momentum from the wins we had down the stretch", failing to mention it bumped them from the 4th spot to the 8th.
and dont give me the lakers, the lakers could trade 5 first round licks for dwyane wade and the media would say oh what a great move the lakers made
Teams out of the race "tank" all the time at the end of the year. Most aren't as forward about it like the Suns, Lakers and 76ers. But it happens every year. I don't buy the stigma part. Get a better draft position, get a better prospect, start winning and nobody cares or even remembers.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with limiting the minutes of your better players in the last 15 games of a meaningless season. Also gives a team the change to give the younger players burn and evaluate.
And spare me the argument about being fair to the fans who pay to come watch. What about the shit product they've put out all year? Or Phil refusing to speak to the fanbase the entire season?
Phil should unexpectedly send Derrick Rose home before one upcoming game and tell him to go home to chicago to visit his family. Payback for going awol earlier in the season. Phil could actually get some support for doing it.
how much more losing you want them to do?
minnesota also won
Simmons has the biggest potential, but i think saric is their best prospect..
i think embiid is jist always going to be hurt

Philly had like half a team, too. Saric is really coming on strong.

Saric is going to be really good, but Simmons has top 10 player in the league potential and my way-too-early-hot take is that he will get there. He will be putting up Jokic-esque statlines (not as efficient of a shooter but more assists). If either one of the two develops a 3 point shot that's one hell of a duo in itself.
