tank going very well. Tied for the 4th worst record in the league with Philly and Orlando.

I think as long as they can nab a top 5-6 pick I'd be happy.
I would be very happy

with Fox or Monk to the Knicks at this point.

Having an "elite" mid range game, the whole "shooting 28% on jumpers this season" scares the shit out of me.

Was very active on defense though. Love to see that given his physical tools.

I hope DX puts out an analysis against UNC. They actually play defense.

Kemba's a very nice player
Greg from LI : 3/27/2017 10:09 am : link
The NBA's star system really obscures players who are not elite but merely very good.

Monk
bigbluehoya : 3/27/2017 10:13 am : link
Is not a guy the Knicks should be considering. Sure, he can absolutely go off at any time, but he seems to disappear for stretches and there will be better athletes available.

I don't dislike the player but too much downside for this team where they'll be picking. Feels like if the Knicks drafted him he'd just turn into a chucker who plays no D.

i disagree on this. Fultz, Ball, Fox are better players. JJ's shooting could be a problem at the next level. Look if none of those 3 are available, i'd run to take him, but to me those 3 are exactly what this team needs.

maybe higher depending if celtics draft for need
Gasol
TyreeHelmet : 3/27/2017 10:19 am : link
Jackson ever even reached out to Gasol. From Berman of the Post-

"A source told The Post that Jackson felt Gasol was headed for a steep decline and considered a big-money deal risky as he sought a replacement for the traded Robin Lopez."

"He sounded disappointed in Jackson for not even calling him in July as Jackson had during his previous free agency in 2014. Gasol then declined to back the Zen Master in his attempt to force-feed the triangle. Gasol said he believes Jackson should back off and let the coaches and players figure out a system."- NYPOST

I'd love to know the real truth how much Noah's visit to Phil in Montana played in him signing him.

Also, I love to hear that the Knicks are interested in Jackson ( who wouldn't be), but the line about having a "triangle skill set" really worries me. What exactly is a triangle skill set? Being really good and talented at basketball?

Jackson
DanMetroMan : 3/27/2017 10:19 am : link

NBA has really strange suspension rules. I mean in theory I totally agree with forcing guys to wait until available before serving their suspensions. But how exactly is that determined? ESPN says the Knicks will try and "rush" Noah back so he can serve some time this year. What stops them from saying he's ready right now? Doesn't it set up a scenario where a player can be further injured "rushing" to serve the suspension?
I know I'm in the minority but
Carl in CT : 3/27/2017 10:23 am : link

Would you trade both of our second rounders for Mario Hezonja?
Anakim : 3/27/2017 10:24 am : link
.
Jackson
DanMetroMan : 3/27/2017 10:24 am : link
is going to spur a lot of debate because he's a multi-faceted type who is not a great scorer (at least not yet). Also of note, I didn't know there was a draft rule change. Players can now partake in the combine and then still pull their names. Smart change.
I would
Carl in CT : 3/27/2017 10:25 am : link

Yes I would. I know he's been a disaster but odds are still very low on a 2nd rounder being a good player (of course there are success stories) but nobody was suggesting Hezonja was a reach at 5. I'd take my chances on rebuilding him.

Sure why not. Where the Knicks 2nd rounders are going to fall have very little value. Hezonja was the 5th overall pick 2 years ago. He's been awful but that's a guy I would to take a chance on.

I would love to figure out a way for the Knicks to get a late 1st in this draft. This class just seems so deep and if they are truly going in a youth movement, I'd love to see another rookie for next years team.

Yeah, i think they have to try to acquire another couple picks so you assume they will. But then again, Phil is running the team so I'm sure they won't.

News flash: PGs pass the ball

Derrick Rose passes the ball. What the hell does that mean?

Jackson gives you playmaking at an additional position besides PG.

The Knicks need talent, not a position. Jackson has the potential to guard 4 positions at the NBA level. That's what the Knicks need.

Never say never but he would have to drastically improve his ball handling. I think he could definitely become a facilator but a point guard? I don't see it. I love him as a prospect though.
So top 6 is:

if they do go jackson or tatum, i want mason in the 2nd, he is not going to be some star player but he plays hard leaves it all oit on the court, can dribble drive, shoot the 3 and he has good vision
.
his problem is his height and he will get passed over because of it

Remember when the Bucks tried Giannis at PG his 2nd year and it was a disaster?

Hell, the Lakers have tried Ingram at the point and I like Jacksons handle, passing ability and first step more.

It's a stretch no doubt, but Jackson is capable of working out of the pick and roll. Maybe he won't be a primary PG but you can leave him out there with the 2nd unit and create some offense.
Nets
TyreeHelmet : 3/27/2017 10:45 am : link
Brooklyn has a 5 game "lead" on the Lakers/ Suns for top pick. Nets play 76ers twice and Magic twice. Also have the reeling Pistons and face the Bulls twice. Any chance they win 5 or 6 games with the Lakers losing out to tie or concede the top pick?

As Knicks fans, I think you have to root for the Lakers to keep their pick. 1) You don't want to see the Sixers get a top 5 pick and 2) keeping the pick allows for the slim chance Magic decides to go all in trading for PG13 and Melo. Very unlikely but one of the only scenarios the Knicks receive any value in trading Carmelo.

I think I'd put smith 4th. One of his strengths is being able to breakdown a defense without needing a pick.

Not to keep bringing this back on fox, but watching U.K. This month and going back and watching fox highlights, I haven't seen him able to do anything unless a screen is set for him. Seems way too passive to initiate anything in ISO.

I don't have any preferences on any of the top 5, but after seeing plenty of Ball, Fox, Jackson, Tatum and Monk during this tournament, I'm confident we'll be alright with any of them.
