I know there are a ton of threads on him, but Dan Duggan just posted this. Which includes info I haven't seen before. Figured some of you would be interested in reading it. Hankins - ( New Window )
Dan Duggan just put out an article that explains that Hankins agent not only botched this job but that he has a reputation around the league for exorbitant demands.
This makes the Giants leaving their offer on the table as a very class move given Hankins' being mismanaged as he is.
fuck hankins for not firing his agent if he has a bad rep around the league, i would pull the offer and force him to come crawling back on his knees. this is business not bullshit.
It's a good article that verifies what many of us have been thinking.
We want Hankins. We want to keep the band together.
We have a multi year deal on the table..
Its three weeks later.. team are NOT going to offer you big money three weeks later
We arent pulling the deal off the table..
Your agent is unrealistic in his demands..
The consensus from NFL insiders is that Poston grossly misread the market. One league source said this is the worst case of an agent misjudging a market they've ever seen.
While every agent's objective is to get his player the best contract possible, there is a level of professional expertise expected to inform the process.
Although no team has offered what Hankins is asking,
how likely is it that the Giants' offer is the highest of those that have been made. In other words, if Hankins lowers his demands how likely is it that the Giants will be the highest bidder? It may just be a matter of time before he is gone.
I swear we had a situation like this before with one of these Poston
brothers. If I recall, we were trying to sign a player free agent and it was being dragged out because of one of these guys. The player fired the agent and went with another, and was signed within days.
Was it Plaxico? LaVar Arrington? I can't recall.

I only follow the NFL but I seem to remember something like this also. Plax?
Surely Big Hank has people in his camp, relatives, other players or even entourage hangers-on who point out the other FA DT 1 year prove it deals. Hate to see this kid loose out and I can't imagine the Giants deal will be on the table forever.

during the infamous LaVar Arrington.. ie- Lamar, free agency period, that negotiation went all over the place with the Postons. They tried to say he was going to Jacksonville, he came and left the Giants, and then a few weeks later ended up signing with the Giants. It wasn't as bad as the Plaxico stuff, when Ernie threw his agent out and trashed him to the press, which ultimately led to Plaxico firing him and hiring Drew Rosenhaus.
The Giants have time on their side, and Reese/Abrams played this whole thing perfectly.

Thanks. I referenced this earlier but could not recall the player. It was Lavar.

Btw, his name is Kevin Poston.
Haha. You can get the creds and the cruds, bro.

DUMB ASS
You'd be terrible at this.
Bold of you to insinuate yourself back into the Hanks talk. Just sayin...
You're not one among the malcontents? Thanks for gracing us with your superior presence, bub.
Poston is living in the past. Shame on Hankins for listening to his hype.
NFLPA should pull his credentials.

Giants keeping offer on the table has nothing to do with being"classy'. They are just trying to call Pistons bluff
It's simple business. BBI is just mad because it's the Giants
I think that's been taken care of.
