Thought this was an interesting quote today. Is there a contingency plan in place with Fluker at LG kicking Pugh out to one of the tackle spots?
Pugh/Flowers-Fluker-Richburg-Jerry-Flowers/Pugh
Probably reading too much into it and I doubt they would move Pugh but just a thought after that quote. Regardless, Fluker brings some depth at good value on the OL.
Given the high pay that guards are getting it might be a good move strategy wise with the cap. You might rather Pugh at 10-11 M to be a T than 8-9 M to be a guard.
As was said. The Giants like their OL to play multiple positions. Probably also means Pugh is backup LT and Fluker could move to LG and not LT.
Like it or not, that's reality imv, so I believe we can safely say the left side of the line is set come hell or high water..
I'm not ready to give up on Hart at RT yet. And who knows who they may draft. The starting RT may not be on the roster yet.
So then the question becomes "do you want to crap around with him"?
I would rather have a solid or better starting RT than a player who can play 3 positions, sort of.

Fluker is known as a bit of a slow footed plodder, to be honest. Actually I think he has a lot in common with flowers. He plays a power game.
Fluker's combine or pro day 40 was perfectly adequate for an OT. I know that 40 does not directly translate to foot quickness, but there is some correlation.
From what I have read, we really do not know why Fluker was shifted from RT at SD.

I didn't say anything about Hart. I don't know one way the other about him. Incidentally Flowers and Fluker ran precisely the same 40 time. More on the of flowers probably being better off at RT long term

It was mainly due to his slow feet, had trouble with speed rushers on the outside as well. They brought him inside at
guard. I think he is going to have to play tackle to start here though.
BTW, whether people like him or not, John Jerry is going to start here folks. He got a 3 year deal, with about
4.25 mill. GTD. I recall a few weeks ago saying, don't be surprised if John Jerry is back here, not being clairvoyant,
just could sense the way free agency was going. Call it intuition if you will, I said 2 years, 6.5 mill., with about
3.25 GTD. My guess, they needed to add the third year to get the deal done.
LT you meant right.
Quote:
Bank on it. And don't count on any high o-line picks in the draft.

Yep. Thank you for the correction.
Either Fluker or Flowers (basically the same player) at RG or RT. They're both big & strong bulls that can crush defensive linemen - the right side is the running side, that's why.
Ideally, we can get Pro Bowler Joe Thomas away from the Browns to play LT ....
Just think - Thomas, Pugh, Richburg, Fluker, Flowers. I think we could do some serious damage with that lineup.
