Is there a reason Daryl Virgies has a 3 year contract?

Undrafted FA who got several looks from teams without being signed last year got a quiet 3-year deal this offseason from the Giants.

Shaun Draughn (who?) was a bigger name FA RB aquisition and he only got a one-year deal.

Is Virgies a lock to make the team or something?

Looks like a standard UDFA deal.

Size and speed got me interested, Then I watched a tape of his highlights. Looked like a sandlot game / field. And he was good vs poor level of competition, but not great. Hope I am wrong, but I believe he is just here for summer camp.

Because of the exclusive rights free agent rules, it matters little as long as it complies with what is allowed under CBA.

The length doesn't matter it's the guaranteed money which his contract likely doesn't top 25k.
