BBI Mock Draft – DISCUSSION Thread

Matt G : 4/2/2017 10:32 pm
We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the picks thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the entire draft and will need to be bumped occasionally to push them back to page 1 of the forum.

Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (ie: Indianapolis Colts won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year). If a GM misses two consecutive picks without providing a prospect list or making some form of contact with me (email or posting on the draft thread) the spot will be reassigned to one of the BBIers who have expressed an interest to fill the vacancy.

Once again, I strongly encourage ALL GMs to utilize the BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet . The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list of both available and taken prospects based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible.

No. MTA. The 7th Ave/53rd St. Stop for the B/D/E subway lines lost power. Forced a lot of trains to re-route. Massive delays. Sucked!

Matt: If you see this, just check picks 160 and 161 on your summary.
Big Blue Blogger : 4/21/2017 12:24 pm : link
You have:
Quote:
160. San Francisco (Pete from Woodstock) (from Was) – Michael Roberts, TE, Toledo
161. Minnesota (allstarjim) - *Aaron Jones, RB, Texas-El Paso
I think it should be:
Quote:
160. Minnesota (allstarjim) Michael Roberts, TE, Toledo
161. San Francisco (Pete from Woodstock) – *Aaron Jones, RB, Texas-El Paso

Doesn't really matter. Just keep in mind for future posts.
Thanks for the catch

Well, now that Cleveland's draft is in the books
Lionhart28 : 4/21/2017 1:01 pm : link
We spent a lot of resources towards improving one of the leagues worst pass defenses last season. 3 DL and 3 DBs. We got (hopefully) our QB of the future and added a handful of offensive weapons.

Browns Draft
1.1 Myles Garrett DE
1.12 Malik Hooker FS
2.33 Deshaun Watson QB
2.52 Adoree' Jackson CB/KR/PR
3.65 Chris Godwin WR
4.108 Jaleel Johnson DT
5.145 Brian Allen CB/FS
5.175 Blair Brown LB
5.181 Eric Saubert TE
6.185 Andreas Knappe OT
6.188 Tanzel Smart DT

Browns
MadPlaid : 4/21/2017 1:05 pm : link
Wow, 11 picks in the first 6 rounds. That's amazing. How many do they have in the 7th round?

With that many picks, you know the Browns are going to be making deals on draft night. I would love to be a fly on the wall of their war room.

They actually have no picks in the 7th round, surprisingly enough.

take Vince Biegel here I was going to give you the hardest time. I am shocked you didn't take him with your last pick. Talk about a player you can root for. Hard working talented kid. Love this pick and great value. He is probably a 4th rounder.

Pundits from the Philadelphia Daily News are giving us high marks, while callers on WIP are ripping us for not taking a RB in the first round.

We didn't have all the extra picks to play with that we so often have in the past, but special thanks to the Vikings for giving us their first rounder for Sam Bradford.

Our draft:

14 Gareon Conley CB Ohio State
43 Dion Dawkins OG Temple
99 Amara Darboh WR Michigan
118 Jeremy McNichols RB Boise State
139 Eddie Jackson SS Alabama
155 Carroll Phillips OLB Illinois
196 Jordan Morgan OG Kutztown St.

Yeah, I love that kid. If nothing else. ST caiptain for 5 years. I had him on my list for a while but with Cleveland switching to a 4-3, he's an odd fit. I got my Nittany Lion and I'll probably try to grab one more in UDFAs haha

...my "bang-for-the-buck" award (without ever having seen most of these kids play) goes to the Chargers and Texans, with honorable mention to the Bucs. The Browns and 49ers reeled in a lot of talent too - maybe even more than their favorable draft position would have predicted.

"Most Intriguing Draft Class" goes to the Saints. Who gets the first drug suspension, Foster or Tabor? Who gets the first jail sentence, Foster or Mixon? Will King draw the first flag for a flagrant foul? Will Kizer ever see the field?

And not just because Lionhart took a bunch of players I was looking at. Happier with my draft for the Ravens than I have been in recent drafts.

Round 1 - Derek Barnett, ER, Tennessee
Round 2 - Dan Feeney, OG, Indiana
Round 3 - ArDarius Stewart, WR, Alabama
Round 3 - Josh Jones, SS, North Carolina State
Round 4 - Rasul Douglas, CB, West Virginia
Round 5 - Deatrich Wise Jr., 5T, Arkansas
Round 6 - Sam Tevi, OT, Utah

Scouting the undrafted and making phone calls to see who wants to join the fold.

It is a 6th round pick. I could have gambled on him making it to the "UDFA" phase, but there were not many OT's that I saw left who could provide depth at RT. Looking more for a Bobby Hart/Marshall Newhouse-type role.

Well, the Vikings have concluded their 6-round draft
allstarjim : 4/21/2017 7:47 pm : link
No first rounder, but they definitely helped their team by getting

Rd 2 DT Caleb Brantley, Florida
Rd 3 OT Roderick Johnson, FSU
Rd 3 RB Marlon Mack, USF
Rd 4 WR Josh Reynolds, Texas A&M
Rd 4 LB Elijah Lee, Kansas State
Rd 5 TE Michael Roberts, Toledo
Rd 6 FS David Jones, Richmond Spiders

Got some help in the trenches, and really believe Marlon Mack and Josh Reynolds will help the offense in getting them more big play ability and chunk yardage.

Michael Roberts was a great replacement pick for Rhett Ellison, and David Jones, fresh off a tremendous Pro Day, will compete early for a Safety spot, a trouble area. Really believe Jones is a nice sleeper in this draft.

Cowboys select Xavier Woods
Rick in Dallas : 4/23/2017 7:18 am : link
If I had a pick in the 5th round I would have seriously considered Woods. He has great ball skills and is a very good tackler. Very good combine results topped by a 6.72 three cone.

I think I really helped the Cowboys restock their depleted secondary in this mock draft plus add a pass rusher that was missing from their defense. DC Mariinelli will coach these guys up.

Tacatta Charlton
Marcus Williams
Damontae Kazee
Jalen Myrick
Xavier Woods

Lorenzo Jerome is a small school prospect, but he proved in the Senior Bowl he belonged with the kids from the more prominent programs. He is a natural ball hawk, and will add quality depth to the Pack's secondary. Good value this late in the draft.

I am pleased with my results from this mock draft. I sought to bring in good players that will help fill in serious weaknesses of the Green Bay roster. I feel I did that. I took some risks on some players who I think in the right environment can really excel. Also, looked for players capable of playing multiple positions which helps with the teams overall flexibility.

1. Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado
2. Tyus Bowser, OLB, Houston
3. Isaac Asiata, OG, Utah
4. Joe Williams, RB, Utah
5.1. Mack Hollins, WR, North Carolina
5.2. Charles Walker, DT, Oklahoma
6. Lorenzo Jerome, FS, Saint Francis (PA)

In all seriousness, based on what Dave Te and others have said, I think the Packers would absolutely sign up for those first three picks
