Why do that? Just monitor how much he throws. Lots of these are believed to be the child pitching Little League and then travel ball and no breaks in the year. No breaking balls until a teen.
He won't be ready for next year. Midseason more likely. Closer to 18 months recovery tends to have best results it seems. At least 14 months. It would be like Nova log some innings second half of 2018. 2019 full go
to cashman yesterday, it seemed like he had the same issue last year and opted for rehab. Hind site being 20/20 he should have had the surgery last year.
a biomechanical engineer call pitching the most violent motion the human body does (or perhaps in sports). I'm not surprised at injury rates for pitchers. I just hope he comes back even stronger.

And teach him to pitch with proper form so he is pitching with his legs.
I often think that someone should go back and find whoever the Mets were using as pitching instructors in the late 60's. Seaver, Koosman, McGraw, Ryan all pitched into their 40's.

This is the like the 4th pitcher the Yankees have told to rest for a year and then had them come back and get the TJ surgery after wasting a year rehabbing. Manny Banuelso, Jose Campos and one other I believe.
This is going to cost Kapreielian nearly 3 years of development. Best case scenario he makes it to the Yanks at some point in 2019.

I got the impression that Kap made the decision not the Yanks.Of course I could be wrong. That is what I took out of the interview.
not blaming him for not trying rehab first. I would probably do the same. Everybody thinks that you automatically come back from the surgery 100%. That is not always the case.
Want to make it all sound so simple. It's not simple and it's nobody'd fault, grow up already. People are trying to make the best decision they can for this kid, it did not work out the best way possible, surgery is always a risk and nobody can guarantee how he will respond, this is all up to the kid, and even if he does everything right there is no guarantee, this is his future, not someone sitting behind a computer. We are not is any position to say what should be done when it comes to anyone's health.

Are you directing this at me? I already posted I would do the same.
Very sad that these UCL's keep exploding. Too much childhood pitching???

but I think I'll steer him towards lacrosse.
