Asshat info-Hankins contract offer from Giants is 28 million

Vin_Cuccs : 4/12/2017 8:40 pm
I just talked to my guy very briefly. Said he just got this nugget of info. He's not sure why he suddenly got this information, but he thinks numbers are being leaked to try to get the situation to move forward before the draft.

No idea what the structure is, what the guaranteed money is, or how many years.

Just passing it along.

it better be at least a 4 year deal ...
Whoops--

I guess this isn't exactly asshat info then: sounds like a lot of people got the info at the same time.

I can delete if needed.

Leave it up.
I'd guess

28x4, $7M per, $14M guaranteed.
Don't delete, it's not posted anywhere else
Mellowmood92 : 4/12/2017 8:49 pm : link
Yup it's 4 years 28m according to the article. Seems like a fair offer, I'm surprised he hasn't taken it

Sounds like asshat info to me...

Minimum 4 years, but as we all know, it's the guarantee money. The guarantee $$ might be holding it up. 4 yrs, $12 mill guaranteed?

Seems about right. I would rather play on a prove it deal than that if i was Hank, not saying he deserves more, just saying he should bet on himself.
It sounds
Pete in MD : 4/12/2017 8:56 pm : link
like a very similar deal to what the Saints gave to Nick Fairley.

Hankins is better than Fairley. They should bump the guaranteed money up a couple of million.

according to the Indianapolis Star, an offer to Hankins from the Colts is unlikely.
I wouldn't mind raising the offer by .5M per year, and the

guarantee by $1M, just so that he saves some face. But
I'd only do it if the Postons agreed that it would get the deal done. Otherwise, move forward.

I don't agree.

The deal is more than fair.
4 yr 28M
annexOPR : 4/12/2017 9:10 pm : link
Would be perfect

Still think the Giants could go DL early in the draft regardless, but Hankins/Snacks back together would be lovely

Hankins is better than Fairley. They should bump the guaranteed money up a couple of million.

They have pretty different skill-sets considering they play the same position. Fairley is much better at generating a pass rush but Hank is better against the run.
He should take it and be thrilled
rdt288 : 4/12/2017 9:20 pm : link
-he has had maximum exposure to the market
-these guys risk their livelihood every down

Why would he not take this?

What's the alternative? A one year prove me deal where he could get injured ?

This was true after 2015 and when the Giants signed him though. Not sure what's to disagree with.
He really only

has two choices. Take this deal or find a one year deal somewhere. It probably won't be the $8M that Poe got.

actually I dont think he is better than Fairley. I think the are about the same player Fairley provided more pass rush.. Hankins more run stopping...

I believe the amount is being leaked because the Giants are growing tired of his agents crap..

So, this guy totally played his hand wrong, has had a total of one visit, didn't answer his phone for about the first week or two of FA, has one other team truly interested in him and they view him as a backup, and you want to up the offer? Makes sense.

I'm an old coot.
When I was growing up, Moose Skowron opened a sign shop in my home town of Belleville in order to have an adequate annual income.
Don Newcombe made ends meet in the off season by opening liquor store in Newark (Nork for Jersey residents).
Phil Rizzuto and Yogi Berra, after attaining All Star status were able to pool their money and open a bowling alley on Route 3.
I've an MBA and understand economics, and I am a staunch defender of capitalism.
But when is enough enough?
I know the NFL life is short, but I also know you can live a life of luxury off the interest of a lot fewer than 28 million dollars.
What is your purpose in life; to somehow make more than the last Defensive Tackle made; or to play out the sport you love with your friends, in an area you've established roots, and where you have a chance to win a Superbowl?
End of Rant.
IMO, way too much

Hankins and his agents are total fools for not jumping on 4 years / $28 million. I would give me no more than a week. Need to get on with business prior to the draft.
I gate "prove it" deals especially for our own players
Ivan15 : 4/12/2017 10:21 pm : link
After one year, the player is still looking for a big contract, regardless of how he performed.

That would explain why they said they made a "fair" offer.
He already signed there keeping it under wraps

If not, someone will be signed

Expect moves
