but he needs to pick it up. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I was going to be.
Agreed. Expected more explosion. Expected more impact year one. Expectations were very high for him as a rookie and they wont lower any in year 2. 1k yards, 70 catches, 10 tds.

Pick what up? A rookie going 60 and 8? You're nuts. He was everything we could have hoped for and now enters his second year. You're expectations were out of Wack.
For a rookie he played well, and made mistakes, as expected......but he has to play better this season, for this offense to succeed....and if he does, the shortcomings of the OL will be less noticeable...
He knows what it takes to take that next step up...it's all up to him.....

W a shit OL, no running game, and no 3rd WR also. Wtf did people expect. 100 catches and 15 TDs?

A lot of people really got carried away with his scouting report for no apparent reason. I don't know why fans were expecting him to have this rookie of the year, top ten pick type season.
I thought Shepard didn't create a lot of separation and wasn't as good with the ball in his hands as I HOPED he would be.
I think we had inflated expectations due to Shepard's summer reports and Beckham going gaga over his potential. The second he was drafted if I as to tell you that Shepard would firmly entrench himself as the slot wr, render Cruz expendable and mitigate his decline while finishing with 60 and 8 you'd all sign up for that in a heartbeat.
We were led to believe this kid was a Steve smith (panther) clone but that was always a way too lofty goal for this kid. Maybe he's only scratching the surface and will get a lot better but even as is he's a valuable player.
..Shepard is a tough guy to figure long term. He sure as hell works hard and certainly has the toughness to last. We will see how his game progresses over the years. We got a good one. How good remains to be seen.
how explosive other day 2 slot WRs have been recently - Cobb, Baldwin, Jamison Crowder, Lockett, etc. and hoping to see that same big play ability from Shep.
For a rookie with those limitations, he proved that he still had enough skills to make an immediate impact. That's impressive. He's quick and TOUGH AS HELL. That toughness and ability to make vice-grip catches in traffic was my favorite part about him as a rookie.
He's just not explosive or big enough to ever be a true #1, but I liked what I saw and with Victor Cruz no longer here I think Shep will take another step.
My only knock was sometimes he lost his feet underneath

We'll see this year. Hoping he has another level.
Cobb has been good overall but he hasn't exactly been perfect. BAldwin was solid early, good after and great last season.
We're almost shell shocked with slot WRs around here. We saw Steve Smith go from solid rookie to 100 catches to out of the league. We saw Cruz go from super nova to very good to toast to out of the NFL.
On the surface Shepard has done more than we could have asked for. Usually guys like Shepard get even better. With a little more seasoning and luck he will.
Getting rid of Cruz and replacing him with an actual #2 possession WR should allow Shepard to play better.

Is what I expect, production wise, year 2.

Steve Smith's rookie year - 10 catches 154 yards and 0 TDs
We'll see this year. Hoping he has another level.

SS can play on my team any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Loved the pick, loved his play Year 1. And love how he will be carving up zones this year as defenses deal with OBj and Marshall.
We'll see this year. Hoping he has another level.
