Can Eli be this foolish? These guys are known sleazes, why would he want anything to do with them? The Post isn't the most reputable newspaper in the world, not that any of them are these days, but if true this is very disappointing. The haters are going to have a lot of fun with this one.

I sincerely doubt it.
He asked for stuff that "could pass as game worn"
how is that proof of fraud?
Eli isn't some noble saint like some want him to be, but if this is all they've got on him in this scheme, this is a waste of time (and money) by the courts.

ITA. The lawyers jump several steps from what Eli said.

This exchange is purposely being put out there by the plaintiff's lawyer in the most negative spin it can be and it's still inconclusive as to what was actually exchanged materially.

And admittedly I'm one of those guilty of seeing him as a noble saint or at least something very close to that.
In game threads you seemed to not like manning at all last year.
Something to take away from all this.
Well, why would Eli destroy it? It looks like he did nothing wrong. The Post is awful. Guess this case is coming to a head if Eli sent in the emails this week.

Are you talking to me? I didn't even join this board until the season was almost over and never once had anything negative to say about Eli.
Something to take away from all this.
Can this political bait be enough to ban this dupe already?
Anyway:
“The email predates any litigation, and there was no legal obligation to store it on the Giants server,” the statement added.
If I had to guess, this was a failed attempt to extort Eli and the Giants and Steiner. So the next move is to sue and hope they settle rather than get dragged to court. Obviously, this email didn't scare anyone off.
Pretty damning, tbh.

At least Eli didn't damage his computer or delete his emails and drag this out in federal court while claiming innocence....

how is a reference to Tom Brady damaging his phone/ getting rid of evidence and dragging out a process of appeals in federal court... a political bait?
Quote:
“2 helmets that can pass as game used. That is it. Eli,” Manning allegedly responded from his BlackBerry at 2:08 p.m.
Pretty damning, tbh.
Helmets can mean anything, code word, Baseball batting helmet,a prophylactic? A lawyer can have a ball with this. Game can mean anything? A Date, Could be locker room lingo.
could even be talking gaming terms.
Those of you blowing this off are looking at this with rose-colored glasses. Eli has some explaining to do.

you are being ridiculous, while i agree this stuff has no merit to an actual racketeering scheme and Eli's defense lawyers would laugh at this.
if the texts are real, the went to joe skiba who is the equipment manager for a football team. he sent that message after getting a message about acquiring game used memorabilia.

WAITING...
Here's a quote from Karen Kessler a Spokeswoman for the the Giants law firm McCarter and English. Courtesy of the NYDN.
“The email, taken out of context, was shared with the media by an unscrupulous memorabilia dealer and his counsel who for years has been seeking to leverage a big payday,” Karen Kessler said in a statement. “The email predates any litigation, and there was no legal obligation to store it on the Giants server.
Eli Manning is well known for his integrity and this is just the latest misguided attempt to defame his character,” she added.
No she's a spokesperson for the firm.
Is it game used if it was a preseason game that he didn't play in, but was issued a helmet while he stood on the sideline?
Is it game used if he wore it in a scrimmage in practice?
game "used" is a really, really loose term.
IMO that's what it was when he bought it. I don't get the desire of grown men to pay a premium to own clothing worn by other grown men.
Autographs, pictures, the whole thing should die out by the time you're 12.

If it was Tom Brady, what do you think that statement would have meant?

You do understand these were allegedly Eli Manning game used items, correct? That's the only reason Eli was even involved at any level.
