Which pains be to say because this is coming from someone who was obsessive over the style he had going in "To Pimp a Butterfly." One of my favorite albums of the last 2-3 years.
The tone of this one just doesn't do it for me. Oh well.
RE: For me? It's meh. PRIDE. Is about the only one I strongly like.

Listened right away last night. Good Kid Maad City and Section.80 are absolute classics. So while I appreciated the work and talent on display in TPAB, sonically I just couldn't really get into it and couldn't help being a bit disappointed. But I give him credit for making the music he wants to make, unconcerned with industry trends or giving people what they're used to hearing. He's willing to switch it up and I could appreciate that on that album.
That said, DAMN is a nice combination of all three of his previous albums. Has a little bit for every different preference when it comes to his music. And in these times, I'm always interested in what Kendrick has to say.
Older stuff but I'm still listening to Birds in the Trap (Travis scott) and Stoney (post Malone). Just really like Scott's sound. Mix between kanye and kid cudi, I like darker rap music.
I like Malone's sound too, his name doesn't get thrown around. "White Iverson" might've given him the vibe as a white dude rapping about basketball, but I like tons of songs on Stoney.
I'm thinking of getting the new one and then going to the last one, etc.
You get it yet?

Totally fair. It's a different sound.
That's the best rap album that's come out since I started listening to rap. TPAB wasn't my cup of tea but I like a song or two here and there.
What are some recommendations for songs to start off with in this album?

Semi-related - Joey Bada$$' new record is outstanding.
Kendrick Duckworth didn't have the same ring to it.
