Apparently the schedule will be released next Thursday.
Supposedly these are some of the games according to the rumor mill and we won't be in Dallas on Week 1...
Thursday night opener Falcons at Patriots,
Week 1 Sunday night: Washington at Dallas
Week 1 Monday DH: Chicago at Green Bay, Chargers at Raiders
Thanksgiving is Panthers-Lions, Chiefs-Cowboys, Dolphins-Bills at night.
No idea how accurate any of this is but it's been speculated about.
Happened last year with the Panthers playing in Denver to open the 2016 season on TNF in a rematch of Super Bowl 50.
I think it just happened that way since the AFC East plays the NFC South. Last year, the AFC West played the NFC South.
How does that happen?

You are correct. It happened last year with Denver and Carolina. I just don't see don't see Atlanta playing in New England to start the season. If they did, would the NFL want to give Atlanta to back to back prime time games? Atlanta is opening their new stadium this season and I would be willing to bet their first home game will be either on SNF or MNF.
My bet is New England opens with Kansas City, which I think would be a better matchup.
Rather see pats play the Falcons later in the year.
Send us to SF to open ours with a home MNF against whoever the following week.

I would prefer not to do SF Week 1 because that would mean a separate road trip for Oakland. Would rather do SF and Oakland either right before or right after bye week

Based on the 4 mountain/pacific time zones the Giants will be in, it's likely we will get a game out there in the first month.
Anyone down for a trip to Arizona on Opening Day?
Giants won't ever play Dallas on turkey day. That game is too big ratings-wise to waste it on a day when the ratings are almost guaranteed. It sucks because I'd love to see it too, but just like Giants-dallas at 1 pm, it'll be very rare going forward (unless one team sucks bad for a prolonged period).

You make a fantastic point here. I went back thinking of when the last time the Giants played Dallas at 1pm was & I may be wrong, but I think it was the 2005 season.
Giants in their red jerseys going up against Parcells & Bledsoe. Insane. If Dallas is opening the season at home on SNF, it'll be against the Giants.
