...have the Giants taking
Round 1: Ryan Ramczyk; OT; Wisconsin
Round 2: Chris Wormley; DT; Michigan
Round 3: Bucky Hodges; TE; Va Tech
Round 4: Brad Kaaya; QB; Miami
Round 5: Richie Brown; LB; Mississippi
Round 6: Rashaad Coward; DT; Old Dominion
Two observations:
(1) Clearly a need draft with the first 3 picks;
(2) Has us passing on David Njoku (#24) and Dalvin Cook (#27)... (no F-ing way);
Chad Reuter 6-round mock draft - (
New Window )
Hodges's is going to be gone by our 3rd round draft pick. I think he might be gone in the second even though he's more valued as a 3rd.
I'd love Wormley in the second, but don't think he'll be available. Hodges and Coward probably won't be available in the third and sixth rounds either.
No interest in Kaaya. Perennial back up at best. His arm isn't strong enough to deal with the howling late season winds in Giants stadium.
Eddie Jackson, S Alabama
Adam Bisnowaty, OG, Pitt
Jaylen Myrick, CB Minnesota
Nah -- some guy sitting in his 'man-cave' in his undies drinking beer is a much much better talent evaluator.
You think Flowers was a forced pick? Flowers has/had arguably the highest upside of any offensive linemen in his draft. He was also one of the youngest players in the draft as well and is still only 22. His size, strength, and athleticism warranted a top 10 pick. Now obviously he hasn't played up to his draft status but he is still learning and will hopefully take a huge step forward this year.
I couldn't disagree more. Look how much Tuck played in 2007 as the 3rd DE. The Giants desperately need a 3rd DE to allow JPP and Vernon more time to rest. All 3 would be on the field on 3rd down.

Jay... the normal progression is that professional football players make enormous strides between years one and two. The fact that Flowers did no such thing, even while being healthier, is a very ugly sign for this premium draft pick. I don't think he signs a second contract with the Giants, and that's assuming he's still in the NFL.
Sy rated him as the 5th tackle. Sy's scouting report on Flowers hit the nail on the head. EF was a reach. Period.

How many snaps did Justin tuck get in 2007 when there were two all pro DEs already entrenched as starters? Even more amazing we also gave kiwi snaps at DE or joker LB that season.
I think DE is a huge need. A young angry pass rusher takes this D to a scary good level. Get one.

with first pick makes no sense. We have many other needs. How many snaps is the third or fourth DE going to get?

The Wormley pick solves that problem. He played inside and outside at Michigan.
He'd be a good pick because he could see a lot of snaps rotating w Bromley at DT and spelling OV/JPP at DE.
You need to keep some meds handy
A friend who was an All Big 10 OL said Cook is the real deal from what he has seen (FWIW).
We have had multiple topics on Cook. The charges for assault were acquitted in 10 minutes at trial because they were false and lies and proven as such. He got fined for tying up three dogs improperly (animal cruelty??) and he did go with his buddies to shoot out windows with a BB gun. I think there may have been something else, but not sure. I think there is a lot of smoke screen going up on Cook. Just cannot see Tampa letting him pass.
But then again, we never know what the scouts are really seeing and learning.

Works for me. DT, DE whatever. Just add more sizzle to the front seven.
