He was at 92 pitches and dealing. No one expected him to throw 120. Wins in April count the same as the ones in Sept.

Looks like deGrom was cruising... 92 pitches and he just struck out 4 straight?? Yikes. Bullpen is spent. Not surprising somebody like Salas finally folded.

I generally don't like to get on him but he's not the best in-game strategist. This we know.

Sandy Alderson is stalking around the Mets clubhouse, clearly disgusted.

They knew they'd be without Familia to start the year and there's a reason Salas was waiting around most of the offseason - he's done a phenomenal job but he's going to give up runs to good hitters with regular use (or overuse). Every one of those guys is totally gassed from pitching in almost every game, even before Thursday's marathon. You know what would have likely made Terry Collins look smarter today? Greg Holland. Or maybe having Ynoa instead of Montero and Edgin last night, because maybe Blevins/Salas would have actually been able to get a day off or 2. I'm a huge Sandy fan, but Collins doesn't exactly have a lot of options.

Blevins waited around all offseason too and he might be the best LOOGY in baseball. Means nothing. All pitchers give up runs. Ive yet to see a pitcher finish a season with a 0.00 ERA yet. Sounds like Collins went to Blevins two hitters too late or should have let deGrom go a batter or two more knowing the pen was still a bit gassed. Oh well. On to today.

Can't really say that. We don't know if the Marlins would have scored off Reed or somebody else there. We haven't blown any games in the 9th yet where Familia would actually have been pitching. I get there is a trickle down effect. I want to see more of Smoker. He's going to be really good. Familia's back Thursday.

I would have liked Blanton but he likely wouldn't have been coming into the game in the 8th last night. Blevins still should have been the pitcher coming into face Yelich, especially if you were going to be using him anyway.

Blanton has a 6.43 ERA so far with the Nats and has been getting shelled PS. SSS though.

actually similar pitchers last year. Robles actually had the better season by a hair. Both around the same innings pitched too.

they could surprise. They dont have a lot of depth though and their farm system is laughably bad. I don't think they have the starting pitching to keep them around .500 but if everything went perfect for them I guess I could see it. The lineup is obviously good.
