Don't know if it's still there but Di'Nics Roast pork sandwiches are always good at Reading Market. Gourmet grilled cheese at Meltcraft. Tons of places and fun shopping. You also have the Italian Farmers Market not far from there which is great to visit, stop and get Termini's Bros Canoli's.
Chris in Philly always has great recommendations for food there. I have taken his advice each time and never disappointed
Everyone always says get a cheesesteak in Philly, I think the Roast Pork beats it hands down
Is the hottest spot in the city. Great pasta, pizza and steaks. Double knot for asian fusion.
Both of those places are tough to get into. Im going to Bud and Marilyns tonight. Really cool menu.
Of course if you want some variety, you could always just walk up 13th st starting at walnut, stop in and grab a drink and a couple plates at each place. You got Indeblue for Indian,Sampan for asian fusion (ridiculous happy hour), zavino for wine and pizza and then Barbuzzo for Mediterranean fusion.
Serpico on South Street is good. As is Pub and kitchen for mixed cuisine. Bistrot La Minette for inexpensive French comfort food.
For cheesteaks, everyone has a favorite but Delassandros and Johns Roast Pork are the two concensus bests. In center city I'm partial to Steves and of the touristy spots I actually really liked Pat's.
at Butcher Bar in center city/rittenhouse last week and it was excellent. All sort of high quality meets, great atmosphere and great drink list. You'll need a reservation.
Went to the Paesano's on Girard and got the Arista roast pork, as recommended by Chris in Philly and others on previous Philly eats threads.
Fantastic sandwich, full stop. My kind of neighborhood joint, too. No frills, great prices and the other customers were all guys off a construction site.
Thanks for the great recommendation, wouldn't have found it otherwise.

+1 That place is great. May be too fancy for young kids though?
This is a very well timed thread. Thanks for all suggestions above, very helpful.
