NFT: serial killer on the loose in Cleveland?

spike : 4/16/2017 6:39 pm
"A gunman fatally shot an elderly man at random, broadcasting video of the shooting on Facebook Live, and has claimed to have killed several other people on Easter Sunday, Cleveland Police say.

Steve Stephens, who goes by Stevie Steve on Facebook, is wanted for homicide, Cleveland Police said in a press release. Only one shooting, which was broadcast on Facebook, has been confirmed, police said.

The shooting happened at 635 East 93rd Street, police said.

The city has been on high alert for the past two hours, with police swarming several areas and putting lockdowns in place.

“Cleveland stay inside and be safe,” one person wrote on Twitter.

This story is still developing "

Cleveland Police have confirmed that a video posted to Facebook Live showing an elderly man being shot is legitimate. The video was posted Sunday by a Facebook user going by the name “Stevie Steve,” who has been identified by police as Steve Stephens.

You can watch the video below (warning: very graphic)

I'd suggesting asking them what they'd think of the video if it were their own grandfather, but that would be a waste of breath as they probably wouldn't care anyway.

that's kids
UConn4523 : 4/17/2017 10:39 am : link
they don't understand things until they get older, just like sex, just like drugs, etc. Not trying to make light of what happened, but kids not reacting to this like they should is common even in tragedy.

When 9/11 happened I was 15. Had no idea what the magnitude was, walked to a friends house, got pizza, and enjoyed my early dismissal. It took years for it to hit me.

They didn't circulate Faces of Death on a 24 hour news cycle on tons of channels, or to every cell phone in school.

It was more contained, but still I see your point.

But point taken.

This day and age I believe most kids are desensitized from this shit that they see every day in the news and video games.

With that said I disagree on the comment above in regards to asking them what they would think if it was a family member of their own. I would however let the parents of those kids know in hopes they can sit down with them.

Is it that hard to locate his cellphone signal and track his whereabouts?

If hes driving the same Ford vehicle, shouldnt EZPass or the camera register its approximate location?

There is a tweet that he might be in NY now

pjcas18 : 4/17/2017 12:08 pm : link
I like honesty, but I'd rather they say something more vague like "we're closing in" or "we're following up on leads" to maybe keep the suspect moving.

Because saying you have no clue where he is, doesn't instill public confidence and safety so I doubt they'd lie about it.

but fair point.

I think if they knew exactly where he is, he would have been apprehended. I do believe they have leads and are ready to pounce once they find him. This guy seems like he is enjoying seeing himself on the news. If the police came right and said they are on to him, maybe that would cause him to do something even more heinous.

Just my opinion

what none of us knows, but when you read this report citing Cleveland PD Chief and FBI doesn't seem like a cat and mouse game. Seems like honesty.

I do like the fact the FBI narrowed down the location:

Quote:
"He could be in a lot of places. He could be nearby, he could be far away and anywhere in between," Mr Anthony said.

Quote:

Five US states are now in lockdown as cops search for the killer who claimed he had slaughtered 14 others and vowed he would “not stop killing” until he was caught.

Detectives admitted today they tried to convince Stephens to hand himself in when they spoke to him over the phone shortly after the deadly attack at 2pm on Sunday.

In a press conference, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said: “Earlier we did have direct contact.

“We talked to him via cell phone and tried to convince him to turn himself in.”

He said police and the FBI are appealing for help to trace the "armed and dangerous" killer who has “deep, deep issues”.

Chief Williams said Stephens' last known location was the murder scene on East 93rd street in Glenville, Cleveland

He said: “As far as we know right now, we don’t know where he’s at. The last location we had him at was the homicide.”

“We’re still asking Steve to turn himself in, but if he doesn’t, we’re going to find him."

Steve Anthony, special agent in charge of Cleveland's FBI office, said Stephens could be almost anywhere now.

"He could be in a lot of places. He could be nearby, he could be far away and anywhere in between," Mr Anthony said.

Cleveland Police confirmed the fatal shooting broadcast on Facebook was real, but said there were no other victims linked to the "random" attack.

really has me angry and questioning society and the world we live in.

That man was a father, son, could have been brother, uncle, cousin, friend, neighbor. He was going about his day minding his own business, not hurting anyone, not bothering anyone. He met his end at the hands of a violent killer who used him, confused him, scared him and then took his life from him. If that wasn't enough he then exploited his death on social media like his kill was some kind of trophy.

I am normally not an angry person but I cant help but fantasize about the many ways I wouldn't mind seeing this asshole meet his own end. They should drop this guy into an enclosure with hungry lions like the days of the Roman Empire.

There's nothing to be learned or gained from that. It's just an act of pure evil.

Why do we, as a society, circulate this sh-t? All of my students this morning are talking about it and watching it over and over....

I personally have not, and will not ever watch it.

I disagree with this to a degree. I certainly won't begrudge anyone for not watching it, but when these things happen I almost always watch it (once). I wouldn't watch it over and over because you said in your next post, I'd hate to have any semblance of desensitization to it.

But seeing it once can be an important reminder of what we're living in. Even if there's nothing we can do to improve our chances at safety, I just... "enjoy" having a better understand of what this world we've put together is, for better of worse.

What if it was your grandfather whose murder was broadcast for the world to see? You'd be okay with people watching it "just once?" I'm with Brit on this

I didn't say I'm ok with anything. I'd rather the video not exist. I'm saying I watched it. Didn't post it. Didn't share it. I clicked it and saw it.

And let's not take that route anyway, please. You're not "not watching" to protect his family. You're not watching because you don't want to. Let's keep it real.
I don't watch things like this because
giantsfaninphilly : 4/18/2017 9:39 am : link
for me, there's nothing positive that can come of it. I already know there's ugliness in the world and that people can be monstrous. Watching someone get murdered in cold blood doesn't provide any value-added in my life. There are certain things that can't be unseen. Why add to the unpleasantry?

Kids have always been stupid, but I'm not buying the notion that kids have always been this way.

20 years ago I was 15 years old, and no, my friends and I would have laughed at a real video of an old man being brutally murdered. No.

We had violence in TV and video games, but I think we had a better separation of fiction and reality.

The two are mixed together to the point where many kids no longer have sympathy or empathy, or respect for real human life.

We need to look no further than the number of school shootings to know that something has changed.

Saying "aw kids have always been this way" feels like willfully burying our heads in the sand because it's easier than admitting the truth.
Meant to say

I'm not a psychologist but the way he talked about how many people he killed and then made an emotional video about what he was going to do, he seemed like a giant pussy and had to make a video to make himself seem so tough and a "monster" or whatever. I had a feeling he just went into hiding and would kill himself just to be a burden while people in many states were fearing a guy on a murder spree was on the loose.

So very unfortunate a good man had to suffer because of this.
I am glad he killed himself...
EricJ : 4/18/2017 8:34 pm : link
would have been a waste of tax payer dollars to get him an attorney, a trial, pay for his incarceration ... and most likely life in prison would cost us millions.

I wish they would all just kill themselves. Makes it easier for everyone especially the families of the victims who would have to re-live it all over and over in court.
