At least from this article. April 20th, sounds about right, one week before the draft.

Open against Dallas and a brutal December schedule.
You mean open AT DALLAS
djl8699 : 4/17/2017 12:13 pm : link
right?
we should be opening at home this year
CGiants07 : 4/17/2017 12:22 pm : link
since we have opened on the road every year since we won the championship and opened on wednesday night vs washington
.

I just looked. Pretty crazy. Giants opened with Dallas 4 of the past 5 seasons with 3 of the 4 (Including the past 3) in Dallas. Enough of this shit.

Probably not this year.

Atlanta is opening their new stadium on SNF this year in Week 1 with Dallas or Green Bay being their likely opponent.
Believe I heard

Atlanta will open their stadium Week 2- which would make sense hosting SNF.
I'm hoping the Giants open on the West coast.

Get one of the road games out of the way early...then allow them to "double up"/two weeks in a row out there in mid/late October...to help lessen the blow of 4 western road games.

I do think Dallas and Washington earlier in the season will be a blessing with Dallas having lost 3/4 of their secondary and Washington having to replace the entire receiving corps, minus their TE.

NFL loves it too much.
Getting a west coast game early

Would be nice. It's going to be a brutal schedule this season. The schedule release is going to reinforce that for everyone. Thankfully it will suck for all the NFCE teams.

have a relative who works for the NFL, and asked hime if he could at least tell me who the Giants open with and if they are at home. he told me he will know when everyone else does. He said it's like the most top secret thing ever.
Why does it take so long now
nygnyy274 : 4/17/2017 2:24 pm : link
To release the schedule i remember it being released in mid march before 2010
Please no Tampa in September.

If they are, I might have to wear my swimsuit as their will be enough sweat to fill a swimming pool.

Could be in Jersey. It's happened as recently as 2012. I would rather open in Dallas than in Jersey to be honest. I want Dallas coming here in the cold.
It's best to get the road division games over with early

Also the media frenzy of the new stadium will cause a big turnout regardless so the NFL does not want to waste that on a week that is marquee anyway
The hype surrounding the NFL schedule

is one of the stranger things in life. Was never this way 5 years ago - now they have primetime shows to discuss.... "marquee October matchups"

Its like kind of fun when you see it for the first 20 seconds.... then its like "ok, what do i do with this information?"

Book tickets/make reservations? I know that is the first thing I'll be looking to do.

They've turned everything into a big stupid circus.

I used to read the Giants schedule in the bloody newspaper, and go "hmmm that's interesting, maybe I'll have another cup of coffee."

I remember watching the draft when it was a low-key affair with the selections slowly coming across a ticker.

I'm only in my 30s.

Now the draft is a primetime event, the players are shooting commercials that air during the draft. We have CGI robots playing football and shit. All designed to entice young viewers that have no attention span.

Watching the draft 20 years ago never did I stop and say to myself, "you know what this shit needs? Some CGI robots playing football, that would totally bring this experience full circle for me."

Now get off my lawn.

well done.

Well, the draft - like free agency - I mean I can see the hype. Of course its never as simple as signing or drafting so-and-so player ... translating into wins... but its fun to discuss and dream about implications for the team, see the interview of your high draft picks, etc.

The schedule on the other hand? OMG!?!?! we play the Broncos in October at 4pm, I can't wait.... I bet my friends don't know yet, I'm gonna text them before they find out!! First to know baby!!
