Shaw 3 innings 10 hits 6 runs 3 walks 4 k's (Throws very hard but hitters seem to have no problem with his velocity. Gives up a ton of hits.)
Bashlor 1 perfect 1 k (candidate to move quickly to AA if he can throw strikes)

A
Holderman 2 innings 0 hits 1 run 0 walk 0 k's (left with an injury after hitting 2 batters, hopefully it's nothing terrible but the Mets minors have been hit extremely hard already this season)

McGeorge 3 innings 3 hits 1 run 1 walk 3 k's
Zanghi 0.2 innings 6 hits 5 runs 2 walks 1 k

What is most alarming about Shaw's performance is that the Firefrogs top two hitters, Ronald Acuna and Alex Jackson, did not play.

said Jackson looks very out of shape for what it's worth.

Really? That's the first I heard of that. I am not disputing it but he has been great at the plate so far. Also his work behind the plate has been described as good for someone who hasn't played catcher in over 3 years. He obviously needs a lot of time there if he is ever going to be a regular catcher in the majors though.

Keith Law: I saw him in Orlando. He looked awful. Still leading with that elbow, cutting up through the ball, and way bigger than he was in HS.

in mind he was 215 pre-draft so "much" bigger than 6'2 215 is a pretty beefy kid (if accurate).

Dan I literally read the Braves daily prospect updates every morning and I have not once ready a single report concerning Jackson's physical condition. I have a great deal of respect for Law even though he can be abrasive at times. I am just very surprised by his statement.

I'd be the biggest liar in the world if I claimed I've ever even seen Jackson play once let alone seen him recently. I know he was a massive HS prospect who everyone thought would hit "for sure". His physical conditioning I have absolutely no idea beyond what Law is saying.

what are your thoughts on 2015 1st rounder Mike Soroka? He was aggressively promoted to AA this year despite being only 19 but he has been incredible. He is 2-0 with a 0.77 ERA with 14 K's in 11.2 innings and 0 walks. Do you see him as a frontline starter or more of a #3 type? I can't remember a pitcher who has been this consistent so early in their careers. He has only given up 4 homeruns and 37 walks in 188.2 IP despite being among the youngest players in the league. Kolby Allard and Max Fried have the higher upsides and are the bigger names but Soroka has outperformed both over the past two years.

The Braves supposedly are extremely high on him. Keith Law thinks he's more of a polish type than a TOR. Soroka's velocity has fluctuated from low 90's to occasionally flashing mid. Build wise he's exactly what you want from a SP (great build, near clone of Tommy Hanson (RIP). If Soroka can sit consistently 93+ he's got a shot to be pretty special. If he's more in the 91-93 range he can still be very good but obviously it's "harder". No reason to rush him but he's on trajectory to be in the Braves rotation at a very young age.
