We've brought back most of our parts and will fortify in the draft and perhaps pick up a solid vet in FA..Even if we drop to 5th or a little lower, we'll still be strong enough to vie for the NFC, imv..I expect our O to take a positive step with the addition of Marshall and Ellison..
So, I'm glad we didn't spend that kind of money on a DT..We have the goods to make a serious run if healthy..We don't need a stud DT this year..Last year the D was severely broken and we needed to spend tons of money for youth and talent..Short would be a luxury but far from a necessity at those dollars..Curious to see the guaranteed dollars..
'I'm glad we didn't spend that kind of money on a DT'...
compare Snacks and Short - both are DT's, and among the best at what they do - but they do different things. Snacks is a big, double team eating run stuffer who generally doesn't bring much pass rush. Short is solid against the run but primarily a gap shooter who brings pressure on QBs. Both very good players, but hard to say one or the other is 'better' as they are so different.

We gave Snacks #10M AAV last season and that's serious kwan. Plus the cap just keeps going up and you have to adjust the salaries accordingly.
Short is a better DT then JPP is at his position.

$16 mill for a DT and people bitched about OV and JPP. Stupid money.
Short is a better DT then JPP is at his position.
And Snacks is better than both of them.
