For old timers- Joe Morrison player segment

Matt in SGS : 4/17/2017 8:21 pm
There is a youtuber who puts up tons of NFL films music and I've posted his stuff on BBI before. If you are looking for any music from NFL films segments, odds are Dave Volsky has it.

Recently he's been posting more video content. So before the NFL inevitably shuts him down for copyright, take a look at his latest segment from 1971 about running back Joe Morrison. Morrison's #40 was retired by the Giants.

enjoy

Is my all-time favorite Giant. I love that piece. He did it all. And in his last years he was playing special teams. Joe Morrison played in an era when running backs were valued. Even slow footed ones. Towards the end he was part of a running back rotation of Ron Johnson, Tucker Frederickson, Bobby Duhon, Rocky Thompson, and Joe Morrison. Yes, Rocky Thompson was a better running back, his natural position, than wide receiver, what he was drafted for.

Another running back similiar to Joe Morrison in that era played for the Baltimore Colts. When Johnny Unitas and his two backups Earl Morrall and Gary Quozzo went down Tom Matte became the Colts quarterback. He wore the plays on his wrist. Oh, remember whens QBs called their own plays.
Loved that piece

Thanks Matt. I actually recalled some of those touchdowns.

a versatile player, similar to a Gifford. He was not quite
as talented as Giff. I would put Joe in the 'overachiever'
category, he certainly gave the Giants everything he had.
He was an early favorite....

... actually very "Bavaro-like" stylistically.

Now "there was hustling ball player." A much deserved recipient of Giants "Ring of Honor."

Stuff like this is what makes BBI the best website around. Thanks Matt for helping make this day a good one.
