As the Giants return for the start of their offseason workouts, DE Kerry Wynn will sign his restricted tender Tuesday morning and participate in the offseason program.
Wynn is a decent 4th/5th DE option who can eat up some snaps
...what we really need is to augment JPP and Vernon with another quick twitch edge pass rusher. O2 hasn't been the answer to date and Okwara's more of a base end that is stout at the PoA.
Reddick, Willis, Bowser, McKinley...

Aren't some of those 4 expected to be linebackers? I believe Bowser is listed at 247 lbs.
When a team picks up the 5th year option on a first round pick that money becomes guaranteed as soon as the new league year begins (this is why Fluker was released just prior to the new league year beginning and why Pugh's $8.8M salary for 2017 is now guaranteed), but I see nothing that says the money from a RFA tender is guaranteed as soon as it's signed.
It's an important point because there is no guarantee that Wynn will make the final roster, so it helps that his $1.8M salary isn't guaranteed. That's assuming I'm correct that it's not guaranteed.
if wasn't hurt early in 2015. He looked so good against Dallas on opening night, really our best defender on the field. As the season wore on he didn't shine as much, and now the shine is totally off.
He has had his moments on the field, which makes him a decent replacement DE.

Actually, the 5th year is guaranteed for injury only. Because a player has to be notified in May of their final rookie year of the option being picked up, it protects the player if they suffer an injury that prevents them from playing in the 5th year. For example, if Pugh had completely blown out his knee last year instead of spraining his MCL, his 8.8 million would have been guaranteed regardless if he was able to rehab and comeback to play for the "5th year". Because he suffered no injury (yet), he can be cut at any point with no cap hit. If he is on the final 53, then the salary is guaranteed.

Like Wynn, and fronted an unknown UDFA DE yesterday, forget the name of the kid, but prefer to add a great DT and let the line be more than the sum of its parts (as opposed to subbing in a skinny tweener, we have that already in Kennard anyway).

Here it is: Galen Elmore DE Golden Gophers 6'5" 275
but may be the worst pass rushing DE I've ever seen. I'm not kidding, he's really that awful. In 34 games played in his career he's had 2 sacks. Two. A HS player could literally have that many sacks in 34 games as a DE.
Trendign skinny DE / LB tweeners get the hype, small school kids get the ignore, size at DT was more under appreciated than it is now, (when wynn was initially drafted as opposed to now).
Check out the Elmore videos, not too shabby for a late rounder or UDFA type as Wynn was, maybe even better, a tad more horizontal ability. But I like wynn, he did surprisingly well keeping his head on a swivel on some interior plays where the O line broke down.
typo, size at DE was even more underappreciated than it is now.
Wynn is still a developing DE. He gives the DL options but nothing is guaranteed, he still has to make the final roster. The Giants roster has taken a big leap forward in terms of talent in last 2 seasons. This roster may be the deepest and best in the Eli Manning era.
of Finding Giants and part of the focus was on Wynn. In one scene one of the scouts said that he looks at Wynn and his build reminded him so much of Justin Tuck. Well, maybe his frame is similar but his production is more in line with a rotational DE who will at best be solid and nothing more.
which is good value compared to most UDFA and late

I am sure he will face some competition to make the squad....

for example, a totally unknown DE with 3 fumbles recovered.
Fumbles recovered to me indicates things that are otherwise hard to measure.
Gaelen Elmore, DE, 6'5" 275 Minnesota Golden Gophers, 3 fumbles recovered.
