AAA-
Dom 3-5, walk off homer (first
“real” HR of the season. OPS a sweet 1.036)
Rosario 2-5 (hasn’t shown any power at all yet)
Rivera 1-5, 2 k’s
Plawecki 1-4, HR
Evans 1-3, BB
Knapp 7 innings 9 hits 4 runs 0 walks 4 k’s
Sewald 2 innings 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 2 k’s
AA
Thompson 1-4, 1 bb, 1 k (awful first 10 games in AA)
Kaczmarski 1-4, HR, BB, 2 k’s (striking out a lot for a “non-power” guy)
Guillorme 0-3, BB, K
Stuart 0-3, BB 2 k’s
Familia 1 inning perfect 1 k
Peterson 2 innings 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 2 k’s (6 innings 3 hits 0 runs 2 walks 6 k’s to open the season)
St. Lucie
Mora 2-5, 2b, K
Becerra 1-4, HR, 2 k’s
Mazeila 1-5, HR, 2 k’s
Urena 2-4, 2 2b, BB, K (real bright spot so far)
Palsha 2 innings 2 hits 1 run 1 walk 1 k
Brantley 1 perfect 1 k
Bashlor 0.2 innings 2 hits 2 runs 1 walk 1 k
Dimino (position player) 1 inning 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 0 k’s, Save
A
Lindsay 1-4, 1 bb, 2 k’s (very rough start)
Carpio 1-3, BB, K (.375 so far)
Paez 0-3, BB, K
Dash 0-4, Tebow 1-4, K
Sanchez 0-3, K (despite a few years of praise the guy really needs to show he can actually hit. He’s only 20 so he has time but has a .398 OPS this season after a terrible (.535) season in BK)
Blake Taylor 6 innings 7 hits 2 runs 3 walks 7 k’s (2 starts 11 innings 7 walks 14 k’s, missing bats = good, continues to show issues with walks = bad) all in all first two starts thumbs up from me.
Maybe just an adjustment to AAA and short sample size given how early it is in the season?

No concern from me (at least not this early). There are conflicting opinions on his future power (some think he's going to be an 8-10 homer guy, others 20ish) but that will work itself out. I really only mentioned it because it's "notable" 0 extra base hits over 12 games in the PCL is "not good" but concern longer term? None from me.
He's not ready, but if he's in AAA he shouldn't be THAT far away. If Reyes continues to stink, Flores continues to be replacement level vs RHP, and Wright doesn't come back, the idea of MASSIVELY upgrading our defense by putting Rosario at short and moving Cabrera to 3B for the last few months of the season is really tempting to me. Again, it's still realllly early, but this is a message board and speculating is fun (at least for me!).
Would be great if he can be in position to help us make a world series run in 2017.
Lol why not?

We need to be patient with Rosario. All the talk of rushing him to the majors was ridiculous.

Yeah it would be great if he was raking but realistically he is one of the youngest players in AAA (Dominic Smith is too) and he needs time. I'd expect him to play the whole year in AAA and get a cup of coffee in September. TJ and Cheech will get opportunities first if Reyes keeps struggling.
With players in the lower minors it is also difficult because if you are dealing with a bad umpire a player may be accumulating K's because he has to swing at bad balls because that is what the umpire is calling strikes or is taking called strikes that really should be called balls. Would also be interesting to know how Dimino threw.
I'm more concerned that he only has 2 walks, but I'm not concerned. He's hitting. If he was hitting .200 with no power, then maybe I'd be concerned.

Not to turn this into some sort of "knock" on Rosario but he's hitting .362 with a .405 BABIP and 4.3% walk rate. Considering his ballpark/league he's off to an "okay" start. His 112 wRC+ isn't even top 50 in the league.
That is one weird tweet. On one hand that velocity is more than fine from the left side on the other... Taylor was awful in Kingsport in 2014(5.05 FIP), last year 8.2 innings 5 hits 8 walks 12 k's Is that supposed to be a compliment or a negative?
I doubt he is ever going to hit with much power. But a SS who can hit .280 with plus defense and speed is fine.
The real key for me is that Dom Smith, Rosario and Cecchini give the Mets three low-cost starters, who will free up money to sign the starting pitchers and maybe even add a top arm in the pen.

Blake Taylor aka "The Worst kept Secret" lol
That's a great question, no clue what that tweet actually means. Especially quoting a fastball range that is either 'no chance he will make it pst AA' to '93, he could get by with that...'
His potential is certainly drool worthy. He's got all the right pieces to be the next Rosario. Which simply means he is a prospect to become a prospect. Personally, I love watching them more at this point than AAA.
Why push him though? Let him put it together first, not like he's being blocked if he is tearing it up and earns a promotion.

I know you don't love the "experts" but boy does Badler love Gimenez. Drool worthy stuff. Almost makes me wonder why they didn't challenge him and send him to Columbia.

In summary
- "sweet swing"
- All fields approach, stays in there vs. lefties
- hard worker, studies game tape
- Chance to be a .300+ hitter with high walk #'s
-10-15 homer power upside "possibly more"
-Plus runner with a good body
-plus arm
-high first round pick talent level
-upside is one of the top prospects in the game
I really dig Badler as a writer. Then again I'm biased because he focuses heavily on IFA players which maintain that "mystery" that is always fun.
Ramos is a shame. All the talent in the world. But it all stops there. Gave up on him years ago after an 'incident'.
