-Mets take on Phillies with Wheeler on the hill tonight. Will face Zack Eflin
-Mets look to rebound off three crushing losses
-Lugo to begin throwing today
-Familia expected back Thursday (will not be eased into closing role)
-Mets quietly worried about Reyes
-LGM!
:)
They struggle when they can't get a HR. Discouraging to keep seeing them get shut down by mediocre pitching
Exactly! Another 4 fuckin hits tonight!!! So frustrating

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Play all their games at Citizen Bank Park.
Then maybe the Mets will resemble a good baseball team.
The birds are making a racket at CitiField.
Reyes is 5 for 50 and looks like a disaster all over the place.
Maybe give him a few days off and work on figuring some stuff out? But no, can't sit shitty vets because of their fragile egos. Jesus Christ.

You do a good job with these. Tough to write one after a game like tonight :(
I think Wilmer should get more abs than Reyes at this point, but either way Mets are still better than they've shown the past few nights and a bunch of wins are coming up IMO.
Their approach and philosophy is the same as last year...awful. If they don't bang out HRs then they rarely win. I'm all for saying "it's still early" but nothing I've seen this far makes me believe anything has changed. They seem to be the same one-dimensional team. I was hoping that healthy players might be the difference maker but it seems that it's the offensive philosophy that's breeds this type of play.
MMO wrote a great article on this back in January detailing the offensive woes from last season.

Thanks Metnut!
Funny how the one thing most people agree on, the players play hard for Collins, is the one thing I have consistently been bitching about for years. I don't know what others are watching, but I havent seen hard nosed, going through a wall baseball in Citi in several years... I'd settle for just one player who runs hard the full 90 feet to first.
BUT
The team does not play "hard" for him. If anything, I'd argue the opposite. And don't give me the line players don't hustle like in the good old days. There were PLENTY of lazier players back in the day than in todays game.
The Mets HAVE to snap out of it, a fast start was critical given the schedule.
That's important but as a strategic guy and bullpen guy Collins blows chunks.
First pro game of his life. Head first into the bag. Dislocates his pinky. That would be considered hustle for most players. But oh no. He pops that pinky back in all by himself. Finishes the game (this is where I think 'fear of injury' is more like full of shit...).
Doesn't just finish the game though. Keeps playing. And takes him REINJURING IT before the team forces him to the DL. I don't exect every player to have that in them. It's one of the rarest traits to find in an athlete. BUT, when you are given g-d given ability, respect the game and play hard.
As an FYI - Hanley is perhaps my least favorite player of this generation for those very same reasons. And why I am not the biggest fan of Ces.
Z?
Anyone going to post a minor league recap from last night? It was a good night, sure everyone would love to hear about it if you guys are around.
Montero has to go back to AAA and leave Gilmartin up here.
I vomit every time I see him on the mound.
Call Doug Fister? Give Gilmartin a chance
Reyes probably didnt want to crash into him as tda stood there

Yeah, TDA should have moved but it looked like he just froze as if he didnt know where Reyes was going to go. It also looked like Reyes was moving away from TDA until the last minute when he changed direction towards TDA. Even so, the ball was in his glove. How it popped out, I'll never know. He catches that ball and it's likely a win for the Mets.
Also nobody mentioned it but why remove Salas who got three outs (really 4) with two outs in the 8th with a righty coming up? Why go to your LOOGY there? Ugh. Oh well.
