8 in a row! Great job by Montgomery again. Annoying that his stat line doesn't really reflect how well a job he did last night. Essentially one mistake all game.

Castro and Judge continue to impress. Bullpen has been very solid as well.

Severino tonight in game 2. Hopefully he can build on his strong start from last week.
love to see Severino get on a roll now too.
Victor in CT : 4/18/2017 10:21 am : link
get these guys to go 7+ decent, not even dominant, every start and this team can contend this year
I couldn't help but see Hensley Muelens (Bam Bam)

when I saw Judge first come up. I wasn't very optimistic based on horse crap logic but man am I glad to be wrong. Judge looks great. He's on a pretty sick pace, granted it's early.
Heading to the game tonight....

Leaving from the Jersey Shore area, anyone have a good parking lot or places to park that will offer me a quick getaway? This will be my first time going to a game in a long time, and first one where I am responsible for the driving. Any tips are greatly appreciated! Go Yanks!
Cautiously Optimistic

I love what this team is doing and what they did in Spring training, but I've followed baseball for 6 decades and a season is a series of ups and downs, hot streaks and slumps for hitters, and not to mention - pitchers going down with arm problems and the unexpected injury to a key player.

If we stay healthy and the re-emergence of Headley, CC, and Ellsbury is for real....there's no telling how good this team can be and another WS Championship is not unrealistic

I'm thinking they've already raised some eyebrows around MLB. Full believers if Severino continues well tonight.

Bird is in the lineup tonight and builds on his great game on Sunday. Carter has been a black hole as a replacement.

Chisox are starting a RHP - Bird will be there. The harder question is how can you keep Hicks out of the lineup? But he probably will be.

You know, the same could have been said last year, just without the results. Growing Pains.

I think Joe will start Gardner. If Hicks starts, more likely that Ellsbury DH's, Hicks plays CF and Holliday rests his back for another day.

The three biggest keys
PaulN : 4/18/2017 1:51 pm : link
Are Montgomery, Severino, and Pineda. If they continue to pitch the way they are it changes everything this season as far as expectations go. Who could have thought these three would be this good. It's a fun way to start, it also shows how good we could be with two key men out if we did get this kind of starting pitching, and it can't help but to pump life into this team/organization and fan base. I can't wait until DD and Sanchez are back, and if these starters can keep it up imagine with those two back and if Bird can start to hit with his consistency. Nice to dream isn't it. Especially when those drams are due to the play on the field.

Agreed on Kozma
DennyInDenville : 4/18/2017 7:28 pm : link
Maybe when Didi comes back he's a HUGE contender to be DFA or cut so maybe Girardi wants a harder look now?

I agree though Kozma is unwatchable at the plate

Especially impressive considering our relative inexperience and lineup changes at catcher. Although, there's already some chemistry built up from the young pitchers and catchers coming up together in the minors.
The inexplicable, years-long inability to hit Gonzalez continues

I would think Sevy is number 4 with Montgomery at no. 5
Giraffe is alternating R and L -
Del Shofner : 4/18/2017 10:27 pm : link
The rotation right now is Tanaka - CC - Big Mike - Monty - Sevy.
Giraffe a/k/a Girardi

It's a loss in the W/L column, but a huge step forward for the franchise. Severino's last two starts have been incredibly encouraging. He has a 27:2 K:BB ratio on the season thus far. He keeps that up, or anything close to it, and he'll be a Cy Young contender this year. His stuff has been absolutely electric.

It's been a long long long time since this team has had a home grown ace. We may finally have one on the horizon.
Sev pitched very well. Even that 1st dinger was a pretty good pitch
Victor in CT : 8:42 am : link
guy had to reach down and across to hit it. Kozma turns that gimme DP and the numbers look as good as his performance.
Sevy is thiiiiiiis close to being a dominant pitcher
Greg from LI : 9:25 am : link
He's throwing total gas, his slider is biting, and the changeup is back. Just needs to tighten up his command a bit.
Haven't seen Matt M. around
BigBlueShock : 9:37 am : link
To keep insisting that it was stupid to have Severino in the rotation and that he should be working his issues out in the minors. I guess the Yankees DO have a bit better pulse on the situation than fans do. Who'd have thought?
