6 Round Mock Draft

Doubledeuce22 : 4/18/2017 2:52 pm
Round #1
Forrest Lamp OG Western Kentucky
Just what we need on the right side of this line. An athletic guard that has great technique. If we can get Fluker going at RT, our line becomes a big time plus for us.

Round #2
Chris Wormley DT Michigan
Fills a need and should be towards the top of the BPA board at this pick (if he’s still available). From everything I’ve read about Wormley, he is a stand up guy and a leader. He’s big, can stuff the run, and give us a pass rush from the DT position. Could work well in a potential Nascar package as well as he played DE as well.

Round #3
Jordan Leggett TE Clemson
Could be a really good all around TE. Something that we have been looking for since Martellus Bennett. He can line up in the slot and bust open seams especially with the WR’s that we have. Could be a project in the blocking game but with Ellison and Adams we can afford to develop him.

Round # 4
Damontae Kazee CB SD St.
The guy seems to have a good nose for the ball. Gets his hands on the ball a lot and forces fumbles. His speed seems to be a bit of a concern but with a great D Line I think he could be a player.

Round # 5
Brian Hill RB Wyoming
Durable and physical back who rarely fumbles the ball. Won’t be a factor in the passing game but with Vereen here I don’t think it matters much and I also really like Perkins in the passing game as well. Could be a good compliment to Perkins and break down opposing defenses.

Round # 6
Josh Carraway DE/OLB TCU
Seems like a Jerry guy. Crazy athleticism but needs to put on some weight IMO. Could be a nice project for a 6th round pick here.

Fire away!
I like it...

especially the first two picks. The only change I'd maybe make is the 3rd rd. I actually think the Giants may not draft a TE at all if they do not find the value. They just spent 18M on Ellison and Mac does not run many 2 TE sets. Lets see what he can do after being a backup and give Adams room to grow as the TE2.

I would say we may be better off as a "win now" team to draft more defense (DL or LB) or a WR or another OL in the 3rd.

I really hope we find a starter on the line from day one. It is asking much, but when you look at this team, we are a good offensive line away from being one of the top teams and at this point maybe one more guy away from getting there. Also DL depth, but we NEED to complete this line and keep Manning on his feet and get the running game where it needs to be.
Also if he's available.

I'd rather Lewis from Michigan in the 4th. He could slide in the slot right away.
I could

Really get on board with this draft. My preference is Cam Robinson over Lamp, but this would still be a great haul.
I like it. As someone else said the only pick I might change is

Leggett, because I feel that Adams may become a very serviceable TE for us, and with Ellison, Tye and LaCosse we may not need to draft another TE.

Give me Hunt in the 4th (probably wishful thinking) and I'm sold.

Consider though, Pugh's contract is up next year as well as Fluker. OL starters for the near future are needed. Fluker also may play RT if we obtain a starter who can play G. And who knows - we may be hitting preseason and they might think Lamp is suitable for LT over Flowers. Flowers to RT and Fluker to RG. Or most likely if they did take Lamp then Fluker at RT.

Agree. TE is not a pressing need with Ellison & Adams in place, imo.
Fluker

Is going to be our Right Tackle, not right guard, Lamp would be a very good pick, he can play tackle if he had to and would play it just as well as Pugh did. how the Fluker is going to be a guard started I'm not certain, and I know he can play right guard, but he is only going to do that if Flowers is our right tackle, then Fluker and Flowers will man the right side, that is the ONLY case Fluker is playing right guard, and that would mean we added a starting left tackle, if we added a player like Robinson or Bolles and he outplayed Flowers at left tackle, then Flowers would go to right tackle and Fluker right guard.
Great job here

I am all in on these selections. Fills lots of needs. Dobn't think Wormley will be there at #2 but it's wishful thinking. Really like Kazee at #4. Real ball hawk who can cover the slot and his 15 interceptions the last two seasons are impressive.
You left out

Agreed. I actually think the value for OL would be there for us depending on how JR & Co. feel about these guys. They by no means are top 10-15 talent, but if one stands out, the 23rd seems like a good spot to take one. With our luck someone will jump us and take the guy we want, however hopefully we land our guy.

Adding another piece to the OL that could play multiple spots and possibly take the LT is worth it and exciting going into camp thinking they may have fixed a huge weakness and take this offense to the next level.
Hahaha OK

Round #7

Amba Etta-Tawo WR Syracuse

Big and fast WR. Has a good nose for the deep ball. Could be a guy that is good on ST right out of the gate which could certainly solidify his chances of making this team. Not a great route runner yet and drops the ball too much but has some upside potential.
