Paul Perkins

732NYG : 4/18/2017 6:17 pm
I know there has been much talk about our need to add a running back in this year's draft, and I cannot disagree; however, I feel that with all that has been said about adding guys like Blount or drafting a feature back, Paul Perkins has been a bit overshadowed. I would love to draft a bruiser to do the dirty work or to spell Perkins, but I am even more excited to see what Perk can do in his second year with some better blocking. Take a look at this video that highlights some of Perkin's rare attributes.

I'm quite high on Perkins. We do need a power back

to take some of the load off him, imo, but I think that he should be our featured back over Vereeen.

BTW, Flowers did a great job on a few of those plays in burying his guy inside.

Perkins and feel as if he's a good fit for the line with his elusiveness at the LOS.

However, depth is a definitely a concern. Vereen and Darkwa are both coming off of season ending injuries. Draughn is a journeyman.

So another back is definitely needed, ideally a powerback.
Should have drafted Jordan Howard last year.

Hope we draft Samaje Perine this year.

Looked very sharp on those linked plays. In fact, the Oline looked like they knew how to run block.
Perkins is excellent,

especially given a line that won't create holes consistently. I hope he stays healthy, as he can snap off 10-15 yard surprises anytime.

Love the way that kid plays hard. He flew under the radar a bit with mixon there too. Ideally, I would love for the Giants to take him in the 4thbut I'm not sure he'll last past the 3rd round
We found Perkins in the 5th

We can find his complement in the 5th or later. Or possibly even Free Agency.

Although I do like Perine quite a bit.

Yeah we missed out on Howard, but alas

I'm a huge fan of Perine. I agree. I think he would be a perfect complement to Perkins. Would love him in the third. If not, I would love Jamaal Williams of BYU.
Perkins is a G.

He will be on my fantasy team next year even if I have to overpay in auction. We haven't had a guy who can wiggle and make defenders miss like that since Bradshaw.
'with some better blocking'...

...by who? The only alteration to our line at this point is bringing in Fluker who hasn't exactly been a world beater since entering the league. Now I like the upside gamble but he could just as easily flop as succeed.

I would expect better years from the entire line, even guys we had starting last season. Richburg was way down last year from where he was previously, and although Fluker is Fluker, Newhouse was garbage last season. Not to mention any potential rookie that may actually surprise with their play.
I do not see a huge need to draft a RB
GuzzaBlue : 4/19/2017 5:42 pm : link
TE or QB. I really want OL and DL, a LB and secondary help. You can find decent guys to backup Perk in FA on the cheap short deals. We already have a TE1 and TE2 with guys competing behind. We NEED DL and OL so badly. I cannot see us ending this draft with less than 3 lineman.

I want to see what Perkins can do. We have a pass catcher. Bruiser on the cheap hopefully with an UDFA thrown in. And not Mixon might I add.

I hate to be a downer, but if we did nothing from here on out to the OL, I wouldn't expect it to be that much better. For it to be better: Flowers needs to take that next step. Fluker would have to be better than he's played in SD. Also, everyone would need to stay healthy. I like to remain optimistic, but we need to add a guy or two from the draft that hopefully can be a starter. If that happens, then yes I can see this line blocking much better.
There's also the new blocking TE
djm : 4/19/2017 6:08 pm : link
That we brought in. The TEs were dreadful at blocking last year. Ellison is a huge upgrade.
