He has 4 more down below. Hmm given 14 players per team I think I could get the whole first round right.
Jeez. You guys as a collective group do a lot of complaining. Don't count the "just missed." Just the original 10.
So I ruled out the two most popular picks (Ramczyk, Njoku) and left out Lamp, Willis and Bowser who everyone seems to think are all of a sudden serious options. And that is not enough for you?
You guys are tough to please.
All said with a big smile. I love your writing.
My point is we can't wait for the draft and this just feels like betting 10$ on 10 teams to win the SB. I would much rather here what player you really think they will take, all things considered. Reading the same amount of words just on why it will be Davis for example. Maybe I'm being weird.
That's how I took your comment. I also read everything Jordan writes. Maybe we're both just weird then...
The Giants are entertaining picking a TE, he was on their potential list, and then they cancel his visit and now he's not in the mix. Did they find something out?
No No No on a QB in the 1st 4 or even 5 rounds ...
None of the QBs are worth a high pick to sit on the bench for 2-3 years ... Lets take value talent early and go with development (the guy from N.Colorado, Kyle Sloter) in the 5th.
The Giants are entertaining picking a TE, he was on their potential list, and then they cancel his visit and now he's not in the mix. Did they find something out?
Jordan said his sources generally wouldn't go for a Njoku type from the get out. He also mentioned the cancelled visit isn't a big deal and shouldn't inform your perspective in terms of being a negative. In short, he was already off the list.
thanks for posting. People act like you're supposed to know in advance who the Giants are going to pick when you make a list like this. It is speculation and valuable in who you rule out more than who you identify in the top 10.
I wouldn't say speculation. I would say informed opinion. I talk to a lot of sources to find out who they do or don't like. Then I try to piece it together. Nobody is telling me or anybody who they're going to pick. The Giants don't know right now. It depends on 22 other picks.
Have you heard anything about Bowser and TJ Watt?
Alls I heard was OJ Howard, Cam Robinson, and Taco.
Here's to hoping that THIS is a head fake and not an actual list. Not only am I not a big fan of many of these players (Davis and OJ might be the only exceptions), but Id be furious if the Chiefs traded with the Dolphins to leap ahead and grab Reddick.
Thanks for the input anyhoo. I am still hoping this is to throw the league off on Bowser.
That the Giants may go further out of their way to withhold info or create a smokescreen for Jordan than they had in the past?
If you think about it by him reporting the Giants interest in Floyd and Conklin he may have influenced two different trade that lead to the Giants picking their "C" option (though Apple appears to be a good pick). Jordan's always done a great job of getting inside intell and reporting it. Last year it impacted the Giants and they may want to avoid a similar situation this year.
The whole idea of another team "knowing" who the Giants want and then making a move to foil the Giants plans or just trade up and disregard their draft board is preposterous.
They don't make the move to foil the Giants draft plans, they make it because they want the same guy and know he won't be there if they pick after the Giants. The Titans knew they couldn't wait for Conklin, the Bears knew they couldn't wait for Floyd. They knew this because it was broadcasted that the Giants wanted 1 of those 2 guys.
That scenario is not preposterous, it happens when teams don't keep their plans close enough to their vest.

No way to back up your assertion that it had nothing to do with it either. Teams pay attention to who the other teams are targeting, its all part of the game.

Sharpen up your reading skills, sonny. I made no assertion; I questioned yours. The burden of proof is on you.
Which makes sense, those are the two areas of greatest need on this team.
Not if you listen to posters who poo poo the idea of the Giants taking a TE, a position the team apparently undervalues. Because the Giants have taken more TEs in the 1st than they have LBs since Banks.
Not saying I approve nor am I rrying to start a squabble. But this idea of ruling out things the team will do because they haven't in the past is kinda tough for me to get on board with.

I've gone back and forth on whether or not I should even respond to you, but this is a message board and the whole point is to have a discussion, so I'm going to attempt to do that. I'm going to disregard the fact that you called me "Sonny" and told me to sharpen my reading skills. If you decide to respond I would like your opinion on why you think I'm wrong, not just a blanket statement that the scenario is preposterous.
My assertion is that two teams jumped ahead of the Giants because it had been well broadcasted the Giants wanted either Conklin or Floyd. I will give you credit on being right on one thing, I don't have Jerry Reese telling me exactly what happened or a letter from John Mara telling me I'm right. So you have that...
The best proof that these teams had substantial info the Giants would have taken both of these players is that they literally traded valuable assets (Draft Picks) to move above the Giants to take these players. In the Bears case they literally moved one spot above the Giants to one spot behind. Would they have done this if they didn't think either the Giants or TB would have drafted Floyd? Would TB have dropped 2 spots back if they really wanted Floyd and were going to take him?
Is there a smoking gun or sworn testimony from Reese that this happened, no. However there is more to my claim that this went on than to your claim that the whole scenario is preposterous and that Chi and Ten traded up just because. A lot goes behind the scenes in the draft, every team does what they can to find out who the other teams want. Sometimes teams send some signals, sometimes they don't. With that being said, teams only give up draft picks to move up and get somebody if they feel the teams above them will pick that person.
you really must be joking? Everyone on earth, including Giants beat writers, was reporting Floyd and Conklin were essentially 1 and 1A for the Giants. You want me to shoot up to the sky and get a note from it saying "hey, I'm blue, go show this to everyone" ?
He has the arm, the athletic ability and the leadership charisma. Bottomline he's a winner. That's why he should be on this list. But he won't be the pick.
He doesn't have the pocket style game, yet. That's a big missing piece. IF he can develop that along with everything else he could be a good PRO but I have a hard time labeling a kid like Watson as the best QB of any draft. For every Russel Wilson type coming out there's a legion of guys that don't pan out or flame out quickly.
But would also like a Qb at 1 if Eli is really in trouble with this memorabilia story. I don't think Eli will play well if this memorabilia story is still active going into training camp
To me (and this is just a personall observation or even "hang up"...
I can't discuss last year's draft without the miss on Tunsil...that still dominates everything.
We also don't know that the Giants didn't "leak" info on Conklin or Floyd because they really wanted Apple...It is, to quote Churchill, " a riddle wrapped in an engima charading as as a puzzle." A misquote, but accurate, I think, when we try to evaluate a war room without being in it.
As regards TE & Linebackers. I wonder if they aren't happy with the current roster. I like Ellerson and think he's vastly underrated as a receiver. They may think they have something in Adams.
Kennard could almost be regarded a rook last year, Robinson is talented, Goodson might be the answer in the middle and last year's starter plus Thomas may be fine depth.
So I"m not sure that either spot is crying for attention.
Haven't heard OL but am concerned they'll force one.
I am so on board with Bowser. The more I read about him, I just want him. He looks great in coverage too. However, there is talk of the Cowboys liking him too. Would piss me off if Jerry trades ahead of us to take him
He has the arm, the athletic ability and the leadership charisma. Bottomline he's a winner. That's why he should be on this list. But he won't be the pick.
Torrag, arm, athletic ability, and leadership... and a winner, I'll give you Mitch Trubisky, with 11 fewer interceptions. All that good stuff they say about Watson are also strengths of Trubisky, and he's simply a better protector of the football and a more accurate passer.
Watson's big time comebacks and never say die attitude were in higher profile games, but Trubisky had a lot of moments like that last year as well. Florida State, Stanford (even though they didn't win, he put them in position to win right at the end of the game), Pitt (down 13 with under 8 minutes to play, led them to two scores and the victory, converting multiple 4th downs on the final drive and throwing the game-winning TD with .02 to play).
He has does that, and a 30-6 TD-INT ratio compared to 41-17 of Watson, a 68% completion rate with 8.4 YPA compared to Watson's 67% completion rate on 7.9 YPA... is still a plus athlete, and doesn't look so slight of build that you wonder if his body will hold up in the NFL.
I like Watson, a lot. But Trubisky was the better QB last year and he looks the part of a franchise QB to me.
thanks for posting.
True. You hear what is being talked about and can only reference that. It is all a crap shoot. We have two excellent scouts/analysts posting here and they don't necessarily agree.
We also don't know how much smoke screen is being laid since last year when the Giants got jumped on Floyd and Conklin.
And who the heck knows what crazy picks will be made to free up players believed to be long gone (Jax, Tenn, 49ers, Browns....etc)
...you can keep him. To compare Trubisky's 11 total starts to Watson's 32-3 record and college resume is laughable. Including back to back National Championship games culminating in a Title. That's a winner.

Just to weigh in..
Watson's resume is no secret. His record and performances in the National Title game at this point have been overly discussed.
Both need time standing on the sidelines learning the pro system which makes all of that 32-3 record point a very moot.
You're weighing much more than a record when comparing two prospects. For me, Watsons struggles seeing the field and his accuracy problems are big time flaws Trubisky doesn't have.
I'm taking Trubisky over Watson every time.
RE: I'd take Davis or any one of the top 4 OL players
Thrill Ride has said it before and said it again - love your style, bro. Nice work connecting some dots and publishing this list, sorry about the NARPs (non athletic regular people) trying to hate on your work.

Can we give this shit a rest?? Everyone can easily predict the targets from any team. A lean, athletic edge rushing LB is the on the radar?? No fucking shit!! Just because reporters report it doesn't mean the giants are leaking anything. Other team jumps in front of the giants because they suspect that the giants want the guy. Now it's loose lips? Gimme a break. Maybe the giants did like Floyd but they can only hide interest for so long.
There is no tangible proof that the giants are broadcasting their targets and there never was. Reporters get one right out of seven and everyone freaks out. What about all the writers that said the giants wanted one of the WRs in round 1? We forget those guys.

Are you hearing anything about NYG targets for pick 23?

FWIW (and it's not much), my money is on Reese continuing that trend and taking Lamp or Wormley at 23.

I like Watson, a lot. But Trubisky was the better QB last year and he looks the part of a franchise QB to me.

thanks for posting.
Like your picks -- to which I'd add Howard up front, if still there (almost certainly he won't be, though).

probably the most well informed guy right now publishing
Hey Hitdog,
Are you hearing anything about NYG targets for pick 23?
#7 is well liked- not a surprise

Lot to like here.

But it's a pretty good list.

Thrill Ride has said it before and said it again - love your style, bro. Nice work connecting some dots and publishing this list, sorry about the NARPs (non athletic regular people) trying to hate on your work.
It could be some ARPs giving him shit as well.
I'm an AIP, man - ( New Window )
