Romeo Okwara

I Love Clams Casino : 4/19/2017 7:57 am
Just like last year, I expect him to flash in the pre-season and the few times when he's in the game for JPP. I'm not even sure why at this point he's listed behind Wynn?

How do you expect this will play out? Will he be a "coaches player" and quietly sit behind JPP?

Perhaps there is an injury to JPP and more regular game time brings him down to earth?

Trade bait?
He's the Strong Side DE backup

What's the mystery?
JPP and Vernon
grizz299 : 4/19/2017 9:14 am : link
were among league leaders in minutes played. In fact, a cogent case could be made that the minutes contributed to JPP's breakdown ...contributed to the Packer loss...contributed to the loss of a superbowl...
Lots of conjecture there but the fact remains...for an inexperienced (even at the college level) this kid flashed moments of unexpected brilliance. With a year under his belt and with the exponential growth we can reasonably expect this kid might be key to a deep playoff run.

Well, but that also could have been solved by having an offense that could keep actually the ball for a few minutes.

DRC injury. Game changed after that

a solid backup. However Mac and Staff need to figure a way to rest JPP and Vernon more. As mentioned above, they will and have worn down by season's end by playing so many snaps. We need more depth- maybe one more in the draft now with Wynn would suffice. I would expect him to get more snaps and hopefully if we can figure out the running game, we can control the clock better and less 3 and outs.
He's only 22, still very raw, but the tools are there.

He beat long odds just by making the team last year, and then by eclipsing two more established players on the depth chart as the season progressed.

I'd say he's an ascending talent who should see his role increase this year.

FWIW, Okwara is still just 21. He won't even turn 22 until June.

Okwara was one of about five NYG UDFAs who got any signing bonus money last year, and only Roger Lewis got more; so Okwara might have been in the seventh round discussion if the Giants hadn't traded that pick for Brad Wing. In any case, he was a pleasant surprise, though passing Odighizuwa and Wynn was largely a function of their shortcomings.
The Giants need to rest JPP and Vernon more

during the games. He should get more playing time.
i think

now that he has proven himself, just a little bit, he will get more snaps than last season. i would expect him in on passing 3rd downs prob at DE with Jpp sliding inside. He can clearly get after the passer and played very well vs thr run in this limited action. no need to let him waste away on the bench. i wouldnt be opposed to even lining him up as a blitzing linebacker in some situations

DRC got hurt on the opening kickoff. Giants kicked GBs butt for 23 mins of the first half. Green Bays last drive of the first half showed the chinks in the armor.
The Hail Mary raised up the whole team and our WRs dropping balls didn't help. rodgers tore up Wade,Apple,Hall,Collins in the secondary on mismatches in the 2nd half. Spags never adjusted.
DRC injury was a huge blow

And with a talented DB draft I'd be surprised if they don't grab one. They do need another CB.

He was hurt but continued to play in the first quarter. Everything your listing is directly correlated with his injury outside of a dropped pass by Beckham on the opening drive
