There have been plenty of rumors about the Browns are targeting a quarterback with one of their early selections in the 2017 NFL Draft. There also has been a lot of talk that the New York Jets would like to trade down from the sixth-overall pick in the draft. WalterFootball.com has learned from sources that the Browns and Jets are talking about a trade that would have the Browns moving up from the 12th pick to the Jets' selection at No. 6 in order to take a quarterback. Cleveland is said to want North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.
In order to move down, the Jets want the 33rd-overall pick (second round) and the selection at No. 108 (fourth round). Those are the first choices on the second and third days of the draft. Leading off those days of the draft, New York would have some highly coveted picks that could allow them to trade down again with a team that is desperate to land a player they didn't think would make it to that spot. |
Both teams have a lot of holes. But the Browns have a bunch of picks this year and next. The Jets don't. So the deal makes sense for both teams.

Makes sense.

They can afford to pay a premium.
They'd probably get a HOF'er
For the Browns, they have the picks, but I feel like they should be doing this next year instead.
I understand if Trubisky is their guy then trade and get him, but just seems like the worst year for them to do it. Especially with their talent situation. With such a deep talented draft you never know who will be there at 33.
I'm personally not blown away by any of the QB's this year, but I'd take Watson over any of them. Browns could get 3 Stud position players this year at the least, stink again for a year (which they'll do regardless) and worry about QB in next year's class when you have more of a talented roster and a top pick again.
No, he's out. They have this guy instead.
lol
Ah ha ha! Good one.
I also wonder if it's not Trubitsky, but Garappalo that is the target for the Browns with the 6th pick (i.e, the Patriots wanted the first pick in the draft for him, the Browns wanted to only give up the 12th pick in the draft for him, so the 6th pick is their compromise).
Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel. Bwahahahaha
The chart is baloney, trades like this all depends on the teams view of the draft class IMO.

Excellent point

the Jets are asking for too much. Regardless of what's said about the trade value chart not always being followed - it almost always is.

Yeah, the chart is always subject to how much a team wants to move up. It's not etched in stone.
agree. next year's QB class is much more promising. If I'm the Browns I continue to build the defense. Nothing would help next year's #1 QB draft pick like a solid defense (ask Big Ben)
