Latest List of Draft Prospects that Have Met with Giants.

TC : 4/20/2017 12:50 pm
All prior caveats concerning accuracy and completeness of this list apply.

Doesn't appear a lot have been added, but two names I notice having been listed are La.-Lafayette RB Elijah McGuire with whom the Giants held an official private interview and Michigan OT Erik Magnuson who got a private workout. I suspect both guys are due diligence type prospects who might wind up somewhere on the bottom of the Giants' board. Magnuson looks like potential developmental depth where McGuire is a solidly built, tough-nosed RB with decent measurables who has had modest small school success with over 1,000 yards the last three years. Would expect both guys might be UDFA's.

Of perhaps greater interest, the Giants are now shown to have held official private interviews with 3 of the top-rated OT's; Bolles, Ramczyk and Robinson suggesting to me that there's has been some level of interest, and one or more may be on the Giants board.

Doesn't mean much IMO. Last year they didn't visit Eli Apple (if my memory is correct) so I was a bit surprised that he was even under consideration once they drafted him.

It's possible that the person they are really high on isn't brought in for a visit so that other teams are unaware of who they might take in the first round. Just a thought. Not sure you can take much away from those visited

Absolutely true! Many Giants' picks never appear on any list. But I'd say it the other way round; you can't rule out anyone who is not reported having met with the Giants, but you can surmise some level of interest for those that have.
The year we took David Wilson

I believe we did not meet with him.

looks and sounds like a guy that Giants scouts would say "no need to do any further evaluation, very good player, great player on tape, everything checks out clean, loves the game, etc etc" and after his great combine, I'm sure they felt that was all they needed.
Wow

So they met with Njoku four different times. And they cancelled a fifth.

Don't know what, if anything, to make of that. Are they really interested in him but just had so many concerns to assuage? Was it four times of "You're still the guy, you're still the guy"?

Yeah, I wondered the same thing. Would seem to be two probabilities; either they definitely had him placed on their board, or they had ruled him out. Either way, they decided they knew what they needed to know.
