Flores's infection is in a joint, per TC. Mets return to 7-man bullpen by adding Familia & optioning Gilmartin & Montero. Plawecki is up.

Randazzo with a weird argument with me on twitter. He's saying Lagares should play a lot more than he does.. uh over whom exactly? Who are you benching for Lagares when everyone is healthy? He cites Kevin Kiermaier. Kiermaier career 106 OPS+, Lagares 86. Other than both being great defensive players it's a silly suggestion and comparison.

Lagares should play more in the 8th and 9 th innings with the Mets leading.
"Juan Lagares has become the teams backup infielder. Lagares originally played shortstop in the minor leagues, but he has not played there since 2009 with the Savannah Sand Gnats."
I'm shocked Duda, TDA, and Flores all are still on the team and didn't get DLed. Have to consider that a blessing. Bye bye Montero and Gilmartin.
How many times has Duda even played 150 games in a season? Been top 10 in MVP voting? all star games? silver sluggers? Answer to all of those things is 0, except playing 150 games, he did that once.
Jay Bruce has had farts linger longer than the fleeting glimpse of Lucas Duda the "better player" (who hasn't been seen since May 2015).
Other than a week-long hot streak here or there he's largely invisible. He hits the ball far, but that doesn't thrill me on a team that can already hit more home runs than most teams and has done that with Duda on the DL more often than not.

I'd love to see if a single other person in here would agree with you? Jay Bruce a better hitter than Lucas Duda? Anyone?? Anyone?? Dan what do you say about that? This whole place wanted Bruce gone and traded and after 2 hot weeks he's suddenly a better hitter than a healthy Lucas Duda?? As usual, your distortion of facts always make for a good laugh. May 2015?? LOL. LIAR. July 2015. wRC+ 106, August 2015 168, September 2015 157. That's MVP-level play over that stretch. ALL of 2014 and all of 2015 he was a wRC+ 130s hitter. Jay Bruce has never come close to that a single time in his entire life. Lucas Duda missed last year to injury. That makes him a bad hitter? Jay Bruce CAREER 108. Lucas Duda CAREER 122. And Silver sluggers? LOL. You realize they give those out based on position right? There is way more competition at first base and they literally have nothing to do with each other. Thanks for the chuckle though Eric.
Even though Duda is much better for his career anyway, Bruce's last few years have actually been the worse years of his career. Most of his career stats are puffed up by nice seasons a long time ago even though he's still basically only a hair over league average.
RE: So 2 agreed within 5 minutes, but you're welcome for the chuckle
Bruce totally hit a few more home runs than Duda did once bro... totally makes him a better hitter...nevermind he gets on base a million times less. He's also a huge RBI guy with Votto on in front of him bro.. RBI's are totally relevant... Oooh oooohh I got one... Bruce has a career batting average of .249! Duda's is .246!! I rest my case!
Can you take 1 day off from making game threads insufferable?
you're whole routine is a potent mix of sad/tiring and we've all seen it at least 500 times at this point.
One day off?? There hasnt been one issue here save for last night's blow up with PJ and it seems like we are 100% good now. Not one.
As for tonight, Im not cursing you out. You want to come at me with phony BS stats Im going to come back at you with real relevant data. But lets move on. The discussions with you and OPS are tiresome and you are never going to agree with me.
I think it's safe to say Thor is on his game tonight...

Excluding 16 wild card, last time Noah Syndergaard walked a batter was Sept. 19. Thats a span of 102 batters, including 1st inning today.
Might have been but I also think Duda would have had that ball over the foul line on the back hand that started the inning. Sloppy, messy inning all around.
To fault Bruce for not getting to that all but of bounds ball
FIT for King Bruce - ( New Window )
So far he has this season, with Rivera after him.
It is still a mystery why he decided to pay Neil Walker 17 million but thank the lord that he kept Jay Bruce.
Rosario has 0 extra base hits, 2 walks and such a move would cost the Mets potentially 20+ million dollars on the back end so... aka not happening.
Wilmer Flores out with an infection. Spent last night in hospital according to #Mets sources.

Carig says the Phillies were "closest" for 2 prospects

So no that would not be the ideal scenario.

Noah Syndergaard hit 100 MPH three times and strikes out the side in the first inning.
Justin Dunn worked a 1-2-3 2nd inning against Dunedin. 2 SO on the night. @stluciemets 1, Dunedin 0 Top 3. #Mets
