JPP had off-season surgery on his abdomen and groin

Beer Man : 4/20/2017 4:22 pm
Apparently the injury that sidelined him last season was more serious than a sports hernia. It is possible he will miss minicamp and training camp.

That is not what he said

at media day. It wa 4 areas that they did at one time back in December when he went on the DL.

Look at the tweets, especially from Patty D...
I'm guessing the Giants knew about this

I also wouldn't mind him missing camp anyway to heal up. If it was a younger player or something that needs a lot of work i'd be more concerned.

I think a lot of guys have surgery in the off-season

and we never hear about it. I'd be surprised if Eli's never had surgery, and even more surprised if anybody ever admits it -- at least until after he retires.

Ok, so the Giants 1st round pick will be a DE.
Article headlines are not written by the reporter
shyster : 4/20/2017 6:03 pm : link
who writes the article. Always useful to keep in mind before citing a headline for the substance of a report

The headline says JPP had offseason surgery, yes. But that's not what the article says. The article accurately says that JPP stated he had surgery in December, which is not the offseason.

The word "offseason" only appears in the article with reference to the contract that JPP signed.

Eli has had off-season surgery in the past, and it was publicly acknowledged at the time.
Groin and Abodomen

Usually equals hernia/labrums. Unless it was a very bad injury which the giants would have known about prior to resigning him, this probably is a case where some of this was pre-existing and JPP had it all cleaned up.

His core should be stronger.

I stand corrected!
