According to the Giants release, that Cardinals game is not eligible to be flexed.
.
Eric, a Sunday night game in Denver is not going to be
flexed. NBC would not give that game up. Speaking of Denver,
if one wants to include that game as a west coast game,
four journeys to the west coast. Get those frequent flyer

While the competition has improved, this may be the most talented roster in the Eli Manning era. I truly believe that it will not be a question of who is on the Giants schedule but which team has the unenviable task of playing the Giants. I believe we are all going to learn early on who the new beast of the NFC is.
I think they win the East, but this is not a schedule conducive to yielding a first round bye. The NYG should be better on paper than last year, but I have a very difficult time believing they'll match or eclipse the 11 wins of a year ago. I see a hard fought 10 wins max, but they'll be a team built for more postseason success than the 11-5 team in 2016.
Doesn't seem right to have to play the NFC and AFC West in the same season. But i think finishing the season with all 3 divisional home games will be an advantage.
That the Giants have only 4 prime time games after their best regular season since 2008. They had 5 prime time games in 2014, 2015, and 2016 even though they had a losing record the previous season.

Surprised about that. Also only one Thursday game and they have 10 days to the Oakland game.
Overall, the Giants might have the NFL's least enviable schedule, based on ESPN senior analytics specialist Brian Burke's analysis. They'll have an NFL-high four games against teams coming off their bye and a net total of minus-22 days of rest compared to their opponents. (The next-highest lack of rest days belongs to the Detroit Lions at minus-12.)
Here is some analysis from Football Outsiders on how relative rest affects competitiveness. Suffice it to say, you want to avoid playing teams who are coming off their bye.
Finally, the Giants have four trips into the Mountain or Pacific time zones, giving them more travel miles than any East Coast team with the exception of the Jaguars, who have a home game in London." Oh Well - ( New Window )
Eagles got their request for back to back west coast games Â

four games against teams coming off a buy is minus 28 days of rest. I week where we have the buy is +7. Combine those two things and we are -21. We ended up -22. Maybe we shouldn't cancel the season.
Pro's:
- BYE week perfectly placed
- 3 of final 4 games at HOME
- Play 4-12 Rams week after bye
Con's:
- Opener IN Dallas
- 3 of first 4 on road
- Only 5 games vs teams with sub-500 records, and 2 of those are against Eagles
- Last 7 games are a fekkin gauntlet
I'm the eternal preseason optimist, but even I am not hopeful. Can the Giants maintain their defensive dominance and match last years 7-1 home record?
Week 13 - at Seattle Seahawks (Dec. 3, 8:30 PM ET, NCB) Sunday Night Football
Week 14 - at Los Angeles Rams (Dec. 10, 4:25 PM ET, FOX)
.
Do you know if the Iggles actually requested that like the
Giants did? Is it quite plausible that is how the schedule just turned out for the Iggles?
BTW, the Giants requesting it was a wing and a prayer,
it was well known they asked for it. So the NFL would have
a perception issue if they did allow it, just saying.
when the Giants do well despite having a tough schedule from a variety of perspectives, though when that happens, I would not be surprised if the tough elements of the schedule are downplayed.
The league does have a sense of humor in having the Redskins play on Thanksgiving at a time when they are trying to have their name controversy quietly go away.

Yes, I read it in the Philly paper when they made the request. I saw someone else post that new on BBI too. Not sure that they got back to back on their request or if they were just lucky.
Is getting out of hand. How bout a soft home matchup for once.
This is a soft opening for us. Screw the Cowboys. You have to play them twice who cares when it is, so long as you beat them. I love having a division win in your pocket after the 1st week.
I'm looking at the end of the season and thinking THIS Â
is where they really screwed us. You have all the travelling then to finish it out you have 3 of you last four games against your division which means 3 highly competitive MUST WIN games. They gave us a break, i guess by making them home games. I know at the end of each season every game is usually critical, but to me, they made those critical games mean twice as much, stacked them together and threw in a thousand mile journey towards the end. Am I reading that wrong?

All the beats in Defenderdawg's reading thread also say 10-6. Interesting.

Because they're on a 3-division annual rotation with the NFC and a 4-division annual rotation with the AFC, it's a scenario that is bound to happen every 12 years (but never more nor less). I do think that because it happens so infrequently, travel mitigation should be a major focus of the schedule when it does occur.

It's also possible that 10-6 wins the NFCE this year while 11-5 yielded a trip to Lambeau last year.
The biggest plus for me is having 3 home division games in December. We can spend all day analyzing this schedule, it comes down to the games inside the division.
