My first and only mock

floridagiantsfan : 4/21/2017 3:19 pm
This mock used the CBS big board as a guide so should be a realistic match of player and round selected.

round 1 - Evan Engram TE Ole Miss

Best hands of any TE in the draft. Best speed of any TE. Willing if not great blocker. At 6'3" a tremendous red zone threat along with Marshall which the Gmen have needed for a long time. IMO he is a potential pro bowl player and will be considered the best TE in this class. Matches need with value.

round 2 - Dion Cawkins OT Temple

Probably not the LT we all crave but a solid upgrade to the OL. In reality other than Robinson who will be gone before we pick in round 1 (IMO) there probably isn't such a player in this years draft. He and Fluker on the right side significantly upgrade the running game and with time he may develop into a LT. Solid value in round 2.

round 3 - Montavious Adams DT Auburn

With the loss of Big Hank DT becomes a need in this draft and Adams can fill that void. Strong run defender who can push the pocket he would most probably end up starting on day 1. Played well against top flight completion in the SEC.

round 4 - Jaylon Reeves Maybin OL Tenn

Was really torn between him and Biegel of Wisc. Chose Maybin despite injury history because when healthy can be an exceptional edge rusher. Can back up the will position early with potential to be a starter late in the year. Also with his speed should be a very good ST player.

round 5 - James Conner RB Pitt

Perfect complement to Perkins. Will get you the 3rd and 2 yardage and a load in the red zone. Won't be a starter but will contribute. Will play special teams and from a purely humanistic perspective he has a great life story and the type of kid you want to root for.

round 6 - Marquez White CB Florida State

Tall corner 6' who successfully played against top notch talent. At this point in the draft you're not going to find a stud but rather take someone who you hope can contribute this year. Fills a need should either DRC, Jackrabbit or Eli Apple goes down. We all saw what happened in GB when DRC went out of the game.

round 7 - Chad Kelly QB Ole Miss

What have you got to lose. Million dollar arm and 10 cent head. Maybe working with Eli he can grow up. He won't be needed, hopefully, this year or next and can develop. If he works out has the physical potential to be a franchise QB. If not, next year is loaded at the position, although if the Giants are as successful this year as last they may have to trade up to get one of those arms.

I believe this mock is realistic in terms of when the players are picked and represents a good combination of value with need.

Okay guys flame away.
Wouldn't complain.

My only concern about White is he looked disinterested at times last year and hurt his draft stock. But don't have much to lose in round 6.
Montavious Adams in the 3rd

I've seen him projected in round 1 and not lower than round 2. You can get me him late in the 3rd then you're a genius.
Nice Job

however I don't get why many want a TE so badly especially in the first. Plus you don't have a DE in here.

If you gave me an EDGE guy in the first or Wormley in the first with an edge in rd 3, then I'd sign up for this immediately and be very satisfied.
Correction^^^

Reeves is an EDGE player not an OL. I saw the OL next to his name. I can get on board with this. Not crazy about the 1st, but hey you fill all depth needs and if Engram is BPA at 23 then I can definitely dig this draft. I would even go Walker or Wormley in the first still.
Jerrad Davis

in the first with Reeves would do wonders to our LB situation.
my mistake
floridagiantsfan : 4/21/2017 4:24 pm : link
Meant to put olb next to Reeves Maybin
I wonder

if the G-Men even have Chad Kelly on their board.
