Giants placed LHP Madison Bumgarner on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to April 19, with bruised ribs and a Grade 1-2 strain of his left shoulder AC joint.
Bumgarner suffered the injuries during a dirk bike accident on Thursday. Seriously. He will be re-evaluated next week, but FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal hears that the left-hander is expected to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks. It's the first time in his career that Bumgarner has been placed on the disabled list. Ty Blach seems likely to take his spot in the Giants' rotation, although Tyler Beede and Chris Stratton are also options.

Actually, it doesn't matter. Most contracts bar you year round. If you hurt yourself doing something besides baseball, driving a car or screwing they don't have to pay you.
