JON HALAPIO
Offensive Guard
University of Florida Gators
#67
6:03.4-323
St. Petersburg, Florida
St. Petersburg Catholic High School

OVERVIEW
Named one of the five most physical players in college football, Halapio more than lived up to that reputation throughout his Gators career, playing as if he was on a “take no prisoners” mission, especially when blocking in combination with the Florida centers to maintain rush lane integrity.

Halapio generates good explosion and pop on contact. He has that fluid hip roll and lower body strength to generate a good push off the snap. Even when he does not get enough movement, he is savvy enough to deliver a blow and drop a linebacker with a vicious forearm blast. He can easily roll his hips, which allows him to generate explosion on contact. He is a very physical striker on the move, doing a nice job of adjusting to recover when beaten.

A starter since his red-shirt freshman campaign the senior shows good snap out of his stance to pull down the line of scrimmage. He has that quick initial burst to gain advantage and the ability to make contact and drive the defender off the ball. He adjusts effectively on the move and does a nice job of landing on second level targets. He also has the quick feet needed to lock out and get in front on pulls. He has the lateral range to unwind out of his stance with ease to clear the rush lanes.

Playing all five positions on the offensive line during his days at St. Petersburg Catholic High School was one of the major reasons Florida placed a high emphasis in recruiting Halapio in 2007, as he would sign his national letter-of-intent to attend the university on May 9th, 2008, prior to playing his senior prep season.

At St. Petersburg Catholic, Halapio was named first-team All-Pinellas County as a senior two-way tackle and was referred to “an immovable object on the line” by the St. Petersburg Times. He also played on the defensive line and competed at both positions in the Pinellas County All-Star Game. He was named the Offensive Lineman Most Valuable Player at the Gainesville NIKE Camp and graduated with a 3.0 grade point average.

Halapio’s first season in a University of Florida uniform did not exactly go as planned, as an undisclosed injury earned him a medical red-shirt after appearing in three games. He returned to start seven contests while splitting right guard duties with Maurice Hurt in 2010, but missed the Mississippi State clash and was limited by a broken finger and a torn hamstring.

The 2011 campaign would be Halapio’s first as a full-time starter, as the right guard made 81 knockdowns for a Gators offense that struggled to a 7-6 season, ranking 105th in the nation with an average of 328.69 yards per game. It was later revealed that the sophomore had played the entire season with a back injury.

The tough-as-nails Gator also started all thirteen games in 2012, undergoing surgery after the schedule to repair a torn meniscus. Injuries aside, he delivered ninety knockdowns and posted thirteen touchdown-resulting blocks. Even with a non-existent passing attack that ranked 114th among 120 major colleges (146.31 ypg) and thirty-nine sacks allowed by the offensive line, the Gators compiled an 11-2 record.

Voted a team captain for the 2013 season by his teammates, Halapio missed the first two games of the season while recovering from a torn pectoral suffered during the summer. He also somehow managed to play the entire Tennessee contest with blurred vision after getting poked in the eye early in the contest. Despite the injuries, he still led the team with 83 knockdowns, but a rash of other injuries that saw fourteen starters miss game action dropped Florida to the bottom tier of the Southeastern Conference standings with a 4-8 record.

One consolation prize for missing the 2013 postseason was that Halapio was completely healthy two months later when he reported for practices in Mobile, Alabama to prepare for the 2014 Senior Bowl. Throughout the week, he demonstrated the punishing strength in his hands that constantly put pass rushers on the ground. One of his blasts send Arizona State Will Sutton falling back like a tumbleweed rolling on the desert plains.

CAREER NOTES
Halapion appeared in fifty-one games during his five seasons at Florida, starting forty-three contests at right offensive guard…Registered thirty-eight touchdown-resulting blocks for the running corps during his starting assignments, as he also recorded 308 key blocks/knockdowns.

2013 SEASON ANALYSIS
The team captain started at right guard in the team’s final ten games, as a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered while lifting weights during the summer prevented Halapio from playing in the Gators’ first two contests vs. Toledo and Miami…The offensive line entered the season boasting 89 career starts as a unit, but a rash of injuries saw just two blockers (center Jon Harrison and left guard Max Garcia) complete the twelve-game schedule…The senior right guard still managed to lead the team with 83 knockdowns and provided nine touchdown-resulting blocks for a team that scored just twenty touchdowns when Halapion returned from the injured list (eleven rushing, nine passing)…The constant shuffling of the front wall saw Florida allow twenty-seven sacks, but when Halapio returned to right guard, they did not allow a sack in any of the Tennessee, South Carolina and Georgia Southern clashes and held both Kentucky and Florida State to one sack apiece…The Gators finished the 4-8 campaign averaging 316.67 yards per game, as the 3,800 total yards is the lowest figure by a Florida team since the 1988 squad tallied only 3,476 yards.

2012 SEASON
Halapion was named team captain, as the All-Southeastern Conference second-team choice started all thirteen games at right guard…Was the only starter on the front wall, as injuries depleted that unit the second half of the season… In the team’s first seven games, the Gators rushed for sixteen touchdowns, but when the injuries hit, they found the end zone just six more times in their final six contests…The junior led the Gators with 90 knockdowns and thirteen touchdown-resulting blocks, but due to the weekly shuffling of the front wall, that unit was ranked 106th in the nation in sacks allowed, as their total of 39 for minus 283 yards was the worst total in the league…With all the linemen healthy, the Gators averaged 265.55 yards per game rushing, but when they were injured, the ball carriers averaged 120.75 yards…The team generated 4,347 yards in total offense, an average of 334.38 yards per game, placing 103rd in the nation…Halapio graded out a team-high among Gator offensive linemen in Florida’s 31-17 win at Vanderbilt. The Gators rushed for 326 yards, averaging 9.3 yards per rush, most in an SEC game since 2008, as the right guard was named SEC co-Offensive Lineman of the Week…Graded at least 80% for blocking consistency eight times, earning marks of 90% or better vs. Texas A& M, Louisiana State and Florida State.

2011 SEASON
Halapio started all thirteen games at right guard, coming up with 81 knockdowns and ten touchdown-resulting blocks…Was the Only member of the Gators’ offensive line to start every game at the same position on the year…That front wall paved the way for a league-leading 5.0 yards per carry…Part of a line that placed fourth in the SEC in sacks allowed (23 for minus 169 yards), but the team limped to a 7-6 record, as the offense ranked 105th in the nation and tenth in the conference with an average of only 328.69 yards per game.

2010 SEASON
Halapio played in twelve games, sharing right guard duties with Maurice Hurt, recording 54 knockdowns to earn Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Team honors…Also named to the Freshman All-American team by the Sporting News…Helped Florida average 350.85 yards in total offense and 166.54 rushing yards per game…Was a key member of a line that surrendered one sack or less in seven contests, as that unit 24 quarterback sacks, a reduction from the 28 given up during his freshman campaign.

2009 SEASON
Halapio received a medical redshirt after played in three games his freshman season for the Gators, including Charleston Southern, Troy and in the SEC matchup with Kentucky in Lexington.

INJURY REPORT
2009 Season…Halapio received a medical red-shirt after playing in three games (undisclosed).
2010 Season…Sat out the Mississippi State game and was bothered with a broken middle finger and torn hamstring.
2012 Season…Played with a torn meniscus that required surgery to repair after the season.
2013 Season…Sat out the team’s first two games vs. Toledo and Miami while recovering from a torn pectoral muscle that he suffered while lifting weights during the summer. The injury happened while the team was maxing out on the bench press. When Halapio brought the bar down to his chest, it ripped the muscle. He went through plenty of treatment and recovery while the team doctors watched the healing process. When he returned to the field, he played wearing an upper body brace that looks like a sleeve with two straps that pull across his shoulder. He could still stick his arm straight out, but the brace kept the arm from being able to be pushed backwards, which could possibly reinjure the muscle. “If anything, it helps me keep my hands inside and prevent any holding calls,” Halapio said with a laugh. The risk for re-injury is still there. If his arm gets pushed too far backwards, it can put pressure on his pectoral and potentially tear it again. "(Team doctors) said that just because of the time period it happened, that I don't have that much time for me to develop the strength that I have and that it can tear off again.”…Played with blurred vision in the Tennessee game after getting poked in the eye…Did not get medical clearance to perform in the weight drills at the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine due to a lumbar spine injury.

AGILITY TESTS
5.34 in the 40-yard dash…1.83 10-yard dash…3.06 20-yard dash…4.83 20-yard shuttle…

HIGH SCHOOL
Halapio attended St. Petersburg (Fla.) Catholic High School, playing all five positions on the offensive line and also started at defensive tackle for head coach Todd Creneti…Was named first-team All-Pinellas County as a senior two-way tackle and was referred to “an immovable object on the line” by the St. Petersburg Times…Received a three-star prospect grade and was rated the 29th-best offensive guard in the nation, placing 85th on the Florida Top 100 list by Rivals.com…Scout.com accorded him three-star status and rated him the country’s 23rd-best offensive guard…Played on both sides of the line in the Pinellas County All-Star Game…Named the Offensive Lineman Most Valuable Player at the Gainesville NIKE Camp…Graduated with a 3.0 grade point average.

KEVIN NORWOOD
Wide Receiver
University of Alabama Crimson Tide
#83
6:02.0-198
D'Iberville, Mississippi
D'Iberville High School

OVERVIEW
For a squad loaded with star talent, it is really the consummate team players that play a vital role and head coach Nick Saban is the first to tell you how invaluable it was to have Norwood in the lineup the last two seasons. The senior has served as an excellent mentor for the Tide’s young receiving unit and under his guidance, Alabama has seen sophomore sensation Amari Cooper record 104 receptions for 1,736 yards and fifteen touchdowns during his two campaigns playing with Norwood.

Norwood also enjoyed two solid seasons at Alabama. After not seeing a starting assignment during his first two years with the Tide, he entered his junior campaign with just fourteen catches for 246 yards and one touchdown to show for his efforts. As soon as he was assigned the “Z” receiver duties, he compiled 67 receptions for 1,029 yards and reached the end zone eleven times during the course of his final twenty-five appearances.

The Biloxi, Mississippi product attended D'Iberville High School before suiting up for the Tide. He played on both sides of the ball and received a four-star ranking from Rivals.com, as that recruiting service regarded him as the fifth-best player in the state and the third-best deep threat in the country. Scout.com accorded him three-star status, placing him 44th among the nation’s wide receivers, as ESPNU ranked him 65th at the position.

The Mobile Press-Register's Super Southeast 120 pick was also named to the Orlando Sentinel All-Southern team. He earned the Sun Herald's South Mississippi Defensive Player of the Year and was selected Mr. South Mississippi Football. The first-team All-State selection by The Jackson Clarion-Ledger, Norwood caught 64 passes for 1,100 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior, to go along with 10 interceptions. Previously, he hauled in 33 receptions for 668 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior in 2007.

Norwood red-shirted after enrolling at Alabama in 2009. The following year, he was listed fourth on the depth chart at flanker and managed only three catches for 56 yards while appearing in thirteen contests in 2010. He appeared in eleven games as a sophomore in 2011, but despite a shift to split end, was only third on the depth chart at his new position. Fighting for playing time, he managed to gain 190 yards on eleven grabs (17.27 ypc).

Back at flanker for the 2012 schedule, Norwood started eleven contests, finishing second on the team with 29 catches that totaled 461 yards (15.90 ypc), finding the end zone four times. He missed the Colorado State clash and most of the Texas A& M game with an ankle sprain in 2013, but in seven starting assignments, he again ranked second on the squad, pulling down 38 tosses for 568 yards (14.95 ypc) and seven touchdowns.

CAREER NOTES
Norwood appeared in forty-eight games at Alabama, starting eighteen times at flanker during his final two seasons…Collected 1,275 yards with twelve touchdowns on 81 receptions, an average of 15.74 yards per catch…Also returned one kickoff for 22 yards.

KEITH ALLEN WENNING
Quarterback
Ball State University Cardinals
#10
6:02.3-219
Coldwater, Ohio
Coldwater High School

OVERVIEW
The rifle-armed three-year starter shattered numerous school game, season and career records, along with etching his name on more than a handful of Mid-American Conference all-time record charts. His senior season was one of the finest in league history, thanks to his ability to scan the field and make better decisions than he did in the past.

Wenning’s problems during his first three years as a Cardinal were the high amount of tosses that were intercepted. Even though he managed to record a career-low seven interceptions as a senior, but it still gave him 42 pass thefts, which tied the school’s all-time record.

Working hard to improve his footwork, balance and body control, along with showing better patience in the pocket did lead to a decrease in his rushing output, but it also helped him set school season-records for pass attempts (498), completions (319), passing yards (4,148) and touchdown tosses (35). He would close out his college career as the Ball State record-holder with 1,642 pass attempts on 1,035 completions for 11,402 yards and 92 touchdowns.

Wenning’s pass completions and attempts also rank third in Mid-American Conference annals, as his aerial yards and touchdown passes both placed fourth. Among active NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision players, he ranks sixth with 1,832 plays participated in, seventh with 11,730 yards in total offense and fifth with 105 total touchdowns responsible for. He also ranks sixth for passing yardage, fifth for touchdown passes, fourth for interceptions, third for pass completions and second for attempts.

Wenning was the prize from Ball State’s 2010 recruiting class, snatched away from Coldwater High School, where the Ohio native lettered in baseball, basketball and football. On the gridiron, he completed 334-of-485 passes (68.87%) for 4,579 yards and 54 touch-downs, as he also rushed for 2,366 yards and 22 scores during his career, as the Cavaliers compiled a 49-4 record during his three varsity seasons.

During his first season as a starter, Wenning led the team to the state title, and as a junior, they lost in the title game. His finest campaign was his last one at the helm, as he was named Ohio Division V Offensive Player of the Year. The Cavaliers again finished as runners-up in the Ohio state championship. In that game, Wenning set the Ohio state championship game records for completed passes (40) and passing yards (414).

Wenning guided the Cavaliers to a 13-2 record and a second place finish in the Midwest Athletic Conference, as the All-State, All-MAC and All-Ohio selection set the school season records for most yards passing (3,699) and most yards in total offense (4,713), in addition to establishing the annual mark with forty touchdown tosses and becoming the first quarterback to ever rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

Wenning would go on to complete 294-of-421 passes (69.8%) as a senior. He was also a three-time All-Conference choice in baseball, adding second-team All-State honors during his junior campaign. He was named to the All-Conference team in basketball, also as a junior.

As a true freshman, Wenning was inserted into the starting lineup for the final ten games, but the team struggled to a 4-8 record, leading to the dismissal of head coach Stan Parrish. He managed to gain 1,373 yards behind 128-of-235 passes (54.47%) that included fourteen touchdowns, but he was also intercepted fourteen times. He scored twice carrying the ball, but finished with minus-three yards on 32 attempts.

With Pete Lembo taking over as head coach, his first announcement was that the quarter-back position was Wenning’s to lose. The sophomore guided the Cardinals to a respectable 6-6 record, as he piled up 2,786 aerial yards behind 287 completions, as his 449 attempts rank as the fourth-highest in school annals. He also had nineteen touch-downs, but was picked off eleven times. He also reached the end zone three times on 57 carries for a career-best 182 yards.

Ball State recorded a 9-4 record and earned a berth in a bowl game (St. Petersburg) for just the sixth time in school history in 2012. Wenning became only the second player in Ball State annals to throw for over 3,000 yards in a season (3,095), hitting on 301-of-460 tries (65.43%), as his 24 touchdowns placed fourth on the school season-record list. He did throw ten interceptions, but scored three times on 56 rushing attempts.

What made the 2012 season more impressive was that he played late in the year with a bone chip in his ankle, suffering what was first thought to be an Achilles tendon injury prior to the season finale vs. Miami (Oh.). His 2013 season was almost stalled when he underwent left knee surgery in August, 2013, but he would go on to start all thirteen games, setting school season-records behind 319-of-498 passes for 4,148 yards and 35 touchdowns, tossing only seven interceptions, along with rushing for five scores.

After the season, Wenning, who again led the team to postseason action (GoDaddy Bowl), becoming the first quarterback in school history to play in multiple bowl games, had one last appearance as a collegian. He was named one of three quarterbacks to play for the West team in the 2014 East-West Shrine Game.
